Hi guys,

Can I change this Heat Exchanger myself?

Do I just drain the boiler and then swap the part ...and then re-fill?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure anything inside a boiler has to be certified, outside (pipes) you can do yourself unless things have changed in the last couple of years.

Whether you do it yourself or not in this case is up to you.

Hmm I would probably say that if you need to ask then perhaps just get someone in to do it, only an hour call out & job done.

Mind me asking why you want it changing.

If you need to ask, then no. You don't even know what things you don't know in order to do the job safely and check your work. If you get gas boilers wrong, you can blow up your house and that of your neighbours.

Hi

I believe I might have a blockage and the boiler is shutting down.

Just want to know what's involved? Just unscrew it and does it pop off?

...as I can't see the pipes behind it etc....

Have you even checked the diagnostic codes the boiler gives you? You're just guessing what the problem is and you've decided to start dismantling the inside of your gas boiler? Seriously, don't do this.

Get someone in doubt DHW heat exchanger is blocked more likely cause is the rubber hoses are blocked/perished

You've also got a leak on the Auto air vent back of the pump
