Got a small problem with an external drive which is a WD5000AACS.

This is a friend’s drive (it’s out of warranty on the 11th of this month) so I took it out of its casing to scan it quicker. Now he had a slight problem with it crashing, He told me he already ran it through HDD Regenerator (which we all know is a bag of crap)I ran it through several tests myself which found over 3800 bad sectors nothing fixed them.

The main problem is the crash seems to have messed up the boot sector it is now reading 2 boot sectors and 2 partitions.

I ran test disk & photorec which showed me 2 drives.

1 reading FAT32 LBA – Elements
1 reading FAT32 LBA – Whole drive

The Elements being the one that’s activated.

The problem is now with the drive having over 246GB of stuff on it you can’t see it in windows so to me it looks like it’s booting up from the wrong partition, but I can’t get the other partition to activate.

Can the elements partition be deactivated via disk part and can the whole drive be activated?

If so what would be the command lines to do so!

I have tried several other programs on hirens boot cd but to no good.
