Hi folks,

I noticed loading CS:Source up a minute ago, the menu screen is all 'fuzzy' Still perfectly readable, but it looked like some sort of background 'noise' going on...

I've now gone back to windows and noticed it, its hard to notice in Windows but it is apparant.

I've tried using the 2nd DVI port on the card, and same thing, is the card at fault or is it the monitor?! Or even the DVI cable?
Temp is 48 degrees here in Windows.

I understand its incredibly hard to help with what it could be with such little description,

It's almost like 'ghosting' its a moving sway of pixels, but the whole screen...

It's not a dual link dvi cable, its just the one that came with the VX924 Monitor.

EDIT : I have tried another DVI cable ,and the same thing occurs. So it's not the cable...

No idea? :(
Heres an example screenshot

Most noticeable in the box bit, It's doing it even when viewing the screenshot for me, so it seems to be most visible in that colour!

Had a similar issue, what I had was like a very subtle horizontal movement in the background of the image - diagonal lines of pixels moving horizontally. Very discreet but also very annoying.

This was on a HIS Excalibur X1900XTX - I'm sure there was another thread around here with a guy having similar problems, I think someone suggested it was a known issue with the 6.3CCC

Needless to say I no longer use this card anymore...

My card has those lines, but on mine they are diagonal.

I have given up on my card and am getting it RMA'd as it also performs rubbishly in games...

I might RMA mine then, its a HIS model also.

I think they are diagonal on mine also, it's strange because even that screenshot of the problem is 'moving' when im looking at it on this webpage!?

Heres another example on a C&C webpage...
I worry if you lot can actually see it on a screenshot or whether only I can :(

I've had enough, its being RMA'd but what is the reason I should use?

I think that is basically my point :( You guys can never see what I explain because the problem is only at my end :( The screenshot itselve is even 'moving' when I look at it, so the graphics card HAS to be at fault.

I have tried another DVI cable AND another monitor, and it still happened, so it only leaves the card...

As for firefox...Maybe :D

How would I describe this fault for an RMA? That it doesnt display textures correctly?

If you're using Catalyst 6.3 drivers, it's those.

Can I still RMA it?

Because basically im fed up with it, if its not the noise issue, its this, CS:Source crashed after playing for 10 minutes! (Its been fine before I changed GFX from X850XT)
And after paying £330 im not happy. I am using Cat 6.3's but I think ATi's influence on me has now gone.

I bought it 12 days ago.

Only thing I notice in the screenshot of the list is the hard to see garbling just around the text, looks similar to an image with poor compression, its not "moving" at all on my end and the first screenshot I couldnt see anything wrong.

There is a slight interferance on the ports. I don't know if it's due to poor filtering on the output of the cards or what.

I noticed my cards have been doing this for a while (1900 master card & 1900xtx in Crossfire), the image does improve if you knock back your monitor refresh rate to 60hz.

I don't know if it started since Catalyst 6.3................

It does not bother me much, it only seems to happen more if you up the refresh rate of your monitor beyond it's native. My monitor will display @ 75hz, but it's natice res is 60hz.

Certainly doesn't concern me to the extent that I want rid of the cards...............

btw I use a Viewsonic 922

Don't RMA it, it's a driver problem.

Roll back to the 6.2 drivers and you'll find that the problem dissapears.

What if I just want to RMA it as I want to change to a 7900GTX? As the noise is bothering me as well.

Or does an RMA have to be more than just the above?

You do realise that OcUK will check the card for faults, and when they see that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the card then they'll charge you for their time and you'll have to pay for the wasted time.

I know what you mean now.

My other PC suffers from this, I'm pretty sure it's a driver problem. Like someone said before, try different drivers see if that helps.

this is the drawback of having such highly clocked cards, there is so much that can go wrong with them.

mind you, it could be your monitor that has a defect. best way to test is to try another monitor and see if the problem presists. if so then the card is busted.

Have you read my posts :o

It's a known issue with the 6.3 drivers, there was infact a large thread about the problem on this forum a week or two ago.
