Problems setting up a static IP

I have just been trying to setup a static IP for port forwarding on my PC. I have been getting the error above. (Not my screenshot by the way)

I have managed to narrow this down to a local issue as the same settings work fine on another PC on my network. None of the setting I am using are incorrect so I am puzzled.

This. You probably have the wired NIC setup with a default gateway too.
If it's the same default gateway on both NICs then ignore the warning. If its a different gateway you could get some issues.
 
I have two NICs on the mobo.

I tried ignoring the message and it just kills my net connection stone dead. I have also tried disabling the second NIC without any luck.

Just noticed the screenshot is from a wireless connection. This is a wired connection on my PC.
 
"Internet connection goes stone dead", can you still ping the gateway and internal devices?

What connection details are you getting from DHCP?
 
You can run multiple gateways if you wish but running multiple network connections on the different subnets with different gateways is going to get messy. You will need to play around with the metric weightings etc to get it to work how you want to.

I don't want to run multiple gateways. I just want to setup a static IP.

I can ping the gateway. It seems to be DNS that goes down.

When I switch to the 2nd NIC I can setup a static IP. Portforwarding in uTorrent still isn't working though.
