I've currently got a pile of media on my pc that i want to transfer to an external HD.

I can access the EHD (External HD) in Windows explorer and in DISKMGMT.msc it shows the drive as a healthy NTFS drive.

When i try to copy of my music folder (around 200gbs) it transfers the first couple of artist folders and then comes up with an error saying that the location on the EHD is unavailable and it cannot copy the remaining files over.

Is this a common issue or could there be something wrong with the drive?

The drive in question is a WD Elements 2tb drive and the laptop is using Windows 7

Try a different USB port, maybe a conflict with other hardware on the same controller.

Disable power saving.

Via USB, its self powered however.

Thanks, i'll try a different USB port, what seemed odd was after it failed i formatted the drive and then tried again and it fell over at exactly the same point.
