Hello all,
I have recently got the following items from Overclockers:
Everything has gone together without to much issue and the system will POST, however I am getting hard lockups (requires the PC to be powered off at the wall/PSU). These have happened when installing Windows 7 or trying to upgrade to Windows 10.
With this in mind I started to run some diagnostics with MemTest86 but it is giving me issues after booting from the USB stick;
1. Using the standard DOS version results in a blue screen with flashing cursor
2. Booting from the UEFI version results in the PC hard locking when it starts the second test (Address test, own address)
Images of the MemTest86 screens can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/pzowoekr4r5kxdf/AAAVoBO6eQNXwbwWaTBI7HVKa?dl=0
I have so far done the following to try and diagnose the root cause of the issue;
1. Re-seated all of the RAM modules
2. Reseated the CPU multiple times
3. Reset the BIOS to defaults
4. Updated the BIOS to the latest version
5. Pressed the MemOK button
6. Removed all of the AIC's installed except the video card
7. Checked the power cables for the CPU/Board are installed and seated correctly
8. Removed all RAM modules except 1 which is in DIMM slot D1
9. Tested the individual RAM modules in DIM slot D1
10. Removed the board from the case
11. Tried individual RAM modules in each DIMM slot
12. Tried XMP profile and at base clocks/voltages
13. Checked to ensure the RAM is getting the correct voltage
I have not done any over clocking on the RAM or CPU yet as they system is not stable at defaults.
I am now stuck as I do not have a spare board, CPU or RAM to continue testing with and after speaking with Bailey, it has been suggested that I post in here to see if anyone else can suggest anything else I can try to resolve the issue. However from my research on-line it points to a faulty memory controller on the CPU or an issue with the motherboard.
All help will be gratefully received
Cheers
