Hi,

Have noticed recently programs such as iTunes and nero don't load,

When I click them I get a little loading circle for a split second then nothing, I try again and still nothing but programs are showing up in processes each time I click the program, If not deleted from processes sometimes half hour or an hour later the program might pop up but it doesn't respond so cant do amything with it, As its two different programs a fault on the program itself is unlikely?

Also windows media player, if I click a song to play it loads and plays, but I cant click on the program without if freezing,

I have done virus scans and nothing, I am now stuck what to try next, any help would be great specs below.

download combofix.exe from bleeping computers, if it does not run you have a virus thats stopping it... (run it in safe mode)

if it will not run download kasperskys root kit removed and run that...

if both come up clean I would reinstall windows... always good to reinstall windows from time to time anyway...

Hi thanks for the replys, I only recently reinstalled windows a few weeks ago,

Will try your suggestions and let you know how I get on thanks again.

So you have run Check Disk and it found no problems? The issue your having is not specific to any one program or application it seems hence why I suspected you may have an issue with your HDD. Was this happening before you reinstalled a few weeks back?

Yes was no problems will do it again and take a screenshot of the results to make sure, Wasn't happening before the reinstall, but I did reinstall because of a virus an my pc would not boot at all but after the reinstall was all fine until now,

Another thing I tryed to download combofix to desktop but it doesn't show on my desktop, if I search for it and then click it it doesn't load and does the same as the other programs,

Currently installing kaspersky now, thanks for help.

Check Disk is fine. You could try running the system file checker. To do this open a command prompt as an Admin and type sfc /scannow. Also when you reinstalled did you grab all Windows updates?

run it in safe mode (combofix.exe)

use the kaspersky rootkit remover dont bother with the hole program...

if combofix does not load you most likley have a virus thats stopping it load....

could also try a chkdsk /r to find bad sectors, they dont always show up with a normal f

Ok will try the file checker, yes all updates was installed and up to date,

Cant see the option for root kit remover I have full scan, quick scan, objects scan and vulnerability scan window, have I got the correct version it's kaspersky PURE,

Got to go out now so carry on when I get home thanks for help.

Ok back now have run the root scan and came up with nothing,

Managed to get combofix to work but it's saying I have Kaspersky pure and AVG have scanners active, but I have unistalled both programs restarted pc and it's still saying it, on the warning it says having them active could lead to possible machine damage, will it be ok to run? or is there something left over from the programs? thanks.

Bad processes: 0

Registry Entries: 2
[HJ] HKLM\[...]\NewStartPanel : {59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee} (1) -> FOUND
[HJ] HKLM\[...]\NewStartPanel : {20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} (1) -> FOUND

It says choose mode 2 for deletion should I do this? thanks again.

no leave that , no bad processes should have no viruses then :) u done a system restore ? you checked event viewer when trying to open a program.

Ok thanks, not yet will do a restore now, sorry dont know what event viewer is,

When I click the program it shows up under processes multiple times depending on how many times I click it, dont know if thats what you mean,

Also just remember was playing a game the other day and it just froze, had to force restart then windows wouldn't load, had to go in to safe mode and do a restore dont know if that has anything to do with this? cant be sure but the problem may of only started after then thanks again.

ok event viewer is where error codes go to when windows crashes or programs , u can just type it in start menu and enter it and you will find error codes , have u made a new user account on windows and see if itunes works then.

you can also check device manager to see if any drivers need updating , anythink marked yellow will need updating.

in your taskmanager processes end the itunes processes , have a look in msconfig , type msconfig in start menu and youll get this

click start up and untick what you dont want starting when windows does , could be somethink conflicting with itunes then apply and ok and youll be prompted to restart , do that
