Project: 0001

Just got myself some cheap Corsaid Twinx 2GB 2x1GB sticks of 800mhz.

Finally installed windows and downloading updates now.

So far so good. Although my ram is dead.

I doubt I'd reach 4GHz on the cpu again until i get some decent ram but atleast im running.

Got a few shots i'll be uploading once my software is sorted.

firstly cracking build dude, it's one of the best i've seen in a while

what settings did you use to get 4GHz out of your 940be?

Thanks a lot, didn't know people still looked here :p

I had my multi at 19, Bus Speed at 220MHz, HT Link 2000MHz and volts are 1.478.

Although sadly since I got 8GB, with all my memory banks full I can't get it 4GHz stable anymore :(

I don't know if that'll work for you but it was a squeeze to get 4GHz out of my cpu, specially to get it stable.

best of luck, but I'm sure you should easily be able to reach 3.8 since you're only using 4GB and only have 2 sticks.

cool i think i'll wait till i can get my watercooling rig in a couple of months, i know it can be done with my setup clicky and he was using all 4 banks for his memory, but it don't say it's stable or what cooling he is using.

i've had it running @3.8GHz but wasn't stable and crashed in the first 30 seconds of the occt 3 test and temps were way high (60'c) and have since then been running it at 3.5GHz on just multi 24/7, for some reason upping the fsb even to 210MHz make's the system very unstable but not that bothered the multi go's upto about 22x i think :D

I know some people have problems running their ram at 1066 or high when OC'ing.

I myself had to drop my to compensate for running at 4GHz.

I think the water will greatly help you. Mine barely reaches the mid 40's under 100% load. So that should help you.

oh right thanks, so if i'm running my ram @ 800MHz can i lower the cas and other settings or should i leave them alone? i've been overclocking for years (not so much lately my last system was a x2 6000 and could only get 3.2GHz out of it) but have never really messed about with the memory and normaly go for the good stuff (corsair mainly) with lower faster settings so i don't have to mess around with the timings ect

also i was thinking of doing a duel loop with cpu and motherboard on 1 and gpu's on the other (3 gtx260's in tri sli) is it worth it and what would you recomend, oh and i have plenty of space as i plan to mount some if not all rads outside the case

If you run the ram at a lower speed you can try to lower the Cas yes.

I'd reccomend memtest all the way here. Some mobos are picky with Phenom II and ram.

A duel loop would be the best for you alright.
Specially since you'll have 3 260's. Bloody hell m8!

I hope you'll be folding on that a bit :p

i'm still deciding about the tri sli at the mo but with the prices so low at the moment it's a good bet i will soon, the only thing is more gpu's means more cooling blocks @ £60 - £83 each  but tri sli does sound better than plain old sli :D

will be doing some folding when all finished as my pc's on 24/7 anyway :)

ive just spent an entire hour of my life looking at this thread and im stunned very nice job you've done

if only i had the skill
the time
or the money.........

Thanks for taking the time to post your project!

I spent a good few hours looking through and got some great ideas for my own setup :)
