Wow. Looking great mate some really nice ideas for it. Love the idea of the head moving up when switched on. What you painting it, white or shiny silver?

I really like the one I have, as without the legs and arms its quite a bit smaller, and IMO also makes it look more 'arty'. I suppose if I really wanted to, I could add arms at a later date.

hmm, i see your point about not having arms thinking about it, although it would be nice if each arm was holding a tft ;) :D

Outside will be gloss white, and the inside satin black. Im going to polish a lot of the alu.
 
that ill be nice, reminds me of those robots in em that will smith film. (can't rember name of it, anyone?) Keep up the good work and loads of updates.

I think you'll find that's 'I Robot' and also that - messiah khan - likes the film/robot idea hence the use of the image in his sig and the construction of this amazing case.

Been reading this thread for a while now, and it's a really cool one, I love the idea of a completely custom case that's a real one off. I've thought about doing a custom one myself, but would have just made and Ally box with all the bits in, never something as interesting as this.

Keep up the great work :)
 
Cheers. :) I robot is a fairly decent film. Would have been better without Will Smith though IMO. The pic in my sig is actually from the 'all is full of love' video by Bjork.

Ive now also received the 'ball and socket head' joints designed for cameras. Managed to pick them up for £5 each. They are ideal for the neck section, as it will allow me to position the head in any way I want.
 
do the chest clear, so you can see inside, and light it from inside. where the gaps are make them slightly thinner so it looks really Cyborg.

Yup, thats being done. Ive got 1 webcam stripped down and ready, just need to aquire another one now. Also need some hollow plastic balls to place them into, so that I can make them really look like eyes. :)


Anyway, this weeks updates;
Ive now started some work on the neck. To make the neck, I bought 2 small ball and socket joints from a camera website. I then modified them, and attatched them together with alu tube, alu plate and a couple of bolts that I had to shorten.

From the next picture, you might be able to see how tight the fit is in the harddrive caddy now. Infact, due to the bolt holding the neck on, the harddrive holds itself snugly in place without any screws.

Ive now also remade the mobo tray out of thich alu sheet rather than steel. Also rather than having to use a small nut on the back of the motherboard tray to keep the standoffs in place, I have now managed to make a thread, so that the standoffs screw in place. To make the thread, I ended up using some spare standoffs and using them as taps. Snapped 3 in the process though.
