Project: [BLACK ICE]

I certainly will be attempting stable 5ghz 6 core 12 threaded loveliness :)

On a side note... heres my last attempt and computer pr0n...

That was a beauty too.. sad to see her go but the new cooler model has taken her place. I may even build yet another different rig soon, time will tell :P

You can pick up the vapo ls for around £150 and then get brackets built for select CPU/gpu configs. Add to this a re-gas and your looking at around £250 which us about the same as a decent water cooling setup for the CPU. IMO a much better purchase but noise can be the killer point here. Will be adding to this shortly :)

What is this "re-gas"?

Like a service? How long does it last between them?

It is pretty much the same sort of idea as having your air con in the car topping up. If you ran this 24/7 it would need a re gas at about 6 months to ensure the temps stay down. I'm not too sure what mine now has in it but I believe it's an r404a and an r157 mix. Either way it does a brilliant job!

That braided tube looks awesome

Thanks! It's the norm really for an SS to have this, saves it looking cheap by being nothing more than some pipe insulation with a bit of duct tape at either end.

Changed plans on the spec again, 5970s have had the boot.. Now gunning it with sli 480s under water. Should be some good cooling involved there and as such hopefully some good gaming performance on a 30" dell :)

Nice build. Again, nice to see some phase as its not done much these days outside of benching.
You wouldn't happen to know what the running costs are on the above spec - say 24/7 ?

Ideally you should not need to re-gas if your system was setup correctly, as your system is sealed (hermetic compressor) you will not have any leaks to worry about. You would do better doing a oil and change the liquid line drier.

Indeed but it had to be de gased etc when I had it stripped for improvements. A refurb was also needed to ensure it could handle the i7 at those speeds... a stock unit would fall on its rear at any sign of 4ghz + with an i7 to be honest.

I see :D

Seems to be handling fine, look forward to next update ::p

I miss my old 4.7 GHz rig looking at this :(
Mind you, that was in the days of Prescott processors and 6800s so I've had a little bit of time to get over blowing up 3ks worth of rig when it went pop! :(

I still have my Mach II running a Baker head on R504 (IIRC) up in the loft in a custom unit to match my old ATCS 201 B BXT. I'd love to see what it could do with the newer processors but alas I no longer have bottomless pockets!
