desk is coming along nicely now.everything sprayed and starting to resemble a desk.
flat pack form!!!!!

few pins and glue later

internal compartments done, time to fit to outer shell

sorry for bad pics mobile fone !!

back of desk for io parts etc

quick few of motherboard compartment without glass.

desk 95% finished

pretty much all that is left to really do on desk now is sort hinges for right hand cupboard and finishing touches.

kyle might say different has hes the one doing all the construction of it all!!!!

funny u say argos/ikea dont cut it as the desk was based around a desk i bought from argos!! or should i say height/width/length same as desk i got from argos.

Great project though & oooh the 180mm silverstone air penetrator, I've had my eye on those amazing fans they kick an awesome bit of air & aren't too loud & in this thick wooden case should be even quieter .

lol, yup the air penetrators are awesome fans even on slowest setting it kicks out air and very quiet.

the box on left is going to be a cupboard, if like me you keep a lot of crap around your desk its perfect place to hide it all !!!!!!!

monitor will be displayed on one of these which will bolt to the back edge of the desk and leave more space on the top and allow viewing thro glass.

desks WILL NOT be made for anyone else but two already made!!

or to put it another way, just for the wood alone at trade price for 1 desk cost £120, then add price of paint,lacq, etc and dont forget these are made specific for components we bought (excact fit) so if someone didnt want the same components it would take about 8/10 hours reprograming the cnc machine to cut the wood.

we wouldnt even think of building another desk for less than £500

ok so desk is built

have some pictures to post once i get home!
didnt take many pics as battery was dying in my camera and just want to really get the desk built and back on mw2!!!

havent put lights in yet, need to wire & solder them all.

but everything else is pretty much done.

temps are good, left it running over night, fans are very quiet, the air penetrator makes the most noise but only when at full wack, it kicks so much air that i can feel the cold air coming from the back of the desk and in my face!!!

most noise from case is the hdds as expected and the stock fan from gpu which im changing back tonight to my accelero s1 now ive got thermo sticky pads for the heat sinks.

i have got the hdds mounted on velcro pads so we can take cage out for easy swap if need to, but still... anyway my actual plan is to buld next a server and mount all hdds in that so only my ssd is in the desk !! SUPER QUIET!!

well ive come across my first problem!!
my graphics card died on my monday

so ive ordered a new card but then soon realised will the new card fit? so i measured the compartment and its a tight fit but i also need to move the air penetrator from inside compartment to outside in letter box.

annyoing as all the pics to post are currently on main pc and im using my lil samsung nc10 on big lovely desk plugged into 24"

thanks its very nice to use!! still makes me smile when i see the nice red lights glowing!!

i will take better pics once ive moved into the bigger room, it does look good with the contrast of black/oak some of the pictures probably dont give it justice.

well... he did make one our of soft wood for me, and while sanding from about waist height managed to drop it and it broke into peices. so soft wood / mdf wont cut it really but i will certainly ask again for you schizo as i want another one myself !!!
