Sub £400

Quick add up

Hadron and psu £85
Mobo £40
Ram £40
CPU £50
Gpu stolen from my rig but say £120
Cooler and cables another £30
Hdd stolen from my rig but say £30 secondhand

Everything from mm apart from the pentium K which was new but their going for £35 secondhand ATM proper budget build :)

£395 all in by my maths

For that I've ended up with a 4.4ghz dual core and a 280x running at 1200/1600

Should be enough to stomp all but the most heavily threaded games but I also
Have a clear upgrade path being able to drop a quad core
CPU in with or without hyper threading later on

Can I ask at what stage does the psu fan come on?

Is it off in idle?

If so if you load prime or a furmark or a game when does the psu fan start up?

From another owner:

It ramps up noisily at boot but then turns off. It would usually stay off until you boot up a game or similar. Then it turns on fairly quickly, but it's reasonably quiet.

going to pull it apart again shortly to replace the mobo, one of the ram slots if fubar so a quick rebuild even more cable management

and oooh more go fast

just need to strip and recable my old phantom first, then get on to this again

as above system itself is whisper quiet in most circumstances, although it does spool up in gpu intensive games, obviously the gpu fans ramp up but I imagine the psu fans spool up also due to the increased load demand
