Hi, and thanks to everyone who helped out until now in some other threads.

Finally, after months of keeping most of the components for this project in boxes, I found some time to think about what I am going to do, order fittings and other bits and start this project. My HW is old, so please don't laugh :-) But the idea for my first WC was to use whatever I had, find as much second hand WC stuff as I can and add anything else new ...So when I got the used TJ07, the guy gave me a bunch of stuff like fans, barbs, rad's, fan controller and some I intend using in this project.
Old case/starting point:

30* M4 5mm s- for fixing rad to stand

Loop & Placement
Project K - attaching a picture with how I want the loop to be:
Pump > Res > Mem > CPU > MB > GPU > 360 Rad > 240 Rad > Pump
Black and white theme, and I want to try later to add a custom mid-plate, maybe a cover for the 5.25 bays either alu or plexi.
Once I will have it up and running and I am happy with everything running I will uninstall it and get it sprayed/powdercoted, but first - I hope I can get it functional :-)

1. Designing a drain/fillport - as you can see, my res has 3 holes all in the bottom. Can I drill a hole in the top cap in order to pass through a hose from the filler port which I will install on the top of the case? I am open for suggestions for better ways to do this: all I want is an easy way to do maintenance/drain/fill up! The <no name> 360 RAD has a small screw on one of the sides - is this something I can use for draining or do I need to add a tap, maybe between where the RAD's connect? Is the 5-way splitter a good idea?
2. Any clue how I can fit the WB for the memory ? I could use the mounting that came with the memory-cooler?
3. Can I use the 1mm thermal pad for the mobo WB or is there a recommended thickness?
4. What other recommendations do you have? What am I doing wrong?

Next Steps

I need to remove all the heatsinks on the mobo now and install the wb, same for CPU and memory; GPU is already done.

About the unknown Rad, any chance of a better photo of it?
It looks to me like it has 20mm fan spacing and looking at the chamber at the end, could it be an old Thermochill Rad?
I thought they also had odd thread for fittings, but by the time I got interested in WCing these had become EoL I think, so I don't know much about them.

It's only a guess, I'm sure someone else here will have a more definitive answer.

Definitely 20mm spacing on that radiator, good spot :)

And reference to the diagram, the pump should be fed from the reservoir not the pump feeding to the reservoir fella.

of course! my bad, wrong arrow there :D

i will take some pics later ...still trying to clean off the different glues and crap the previous owner left on it :-)

having the 20mm spacing, i take it the standard pulse quad stand won't be a fit then ..huh, well spotted!
i see that the triple one has larger holes so it takes 15-25m spacing!?

Update!

I screwed up ...badly! :( what a fukn noob am I ?

So, first - when taking off the last heatsink from bottom-right, ...don't ask me how, I managed to snap off a very very tiny "thing" (microchip?) (sorry, maybe I should mention now that English is not my first language, not even the second :( !!!) - please check picture for more details below. Damn thing is also really tiny, maybe 2x2mm ...any clue if this can be repaired or is it dead? It is an area marked: Q51- any clues what that is?

Second: damn EK! They say the EK Supremacy is supported on my EVGA X58 SLI LE but I know that there is no way they can test every single MB.

Are they wrong or am I doing something wrong here? <-- could well be!
CPU WB clearly touches on the mosfets on the left of the CPU, and also the black screws from the bottom on the WB ar also in the way touching on the frame that holds down the CPU. It's not visible in pictures, but clearly there this is not a snug fit!

Next steps??
1. repair the mobo with a specialist (any recommendations?) - if I don't do anything, is it likely that the MB won't work?
2. get EK Supreme which is smaller and will definitely fit?
3. mod current EK Supremacy to fit including?

I must add though, that after taking the CPU WB off, there was plenty of paste on it making me think it fits, but looking with a light closely I can still see that the CPU is only partially touching in the middle, being hold off by the screw+cpu "cage" on the right and mosfets on the left!

thats some bad luck dude :(

considering that chip has been ripped off AND the cpu block doesnt fit - would you consider getting another mobo?

yup! i already had a search, just in case and no X58 SLI for sale ...only could find one on ebay in USA for 200$ :)

the problem is that if i change the mobo, i can chuck the mobo WB in the bin, i bet there is nobody who will want it ..and more and more £ will be spent where i wanted to keep this as a low budget as possible, using what i had :(
any tips with the EK block? should i mod it or maybe sell it at it is new and just get a smaller one?

i would have to take a few mm off one of the sides in order to slip past the capacitors and maybe also shave a bit off the screws ...that is if i manage to repair the mobo!!

do you think it makes sense to contact EK, maybe they will do an exchange since is kinda their fault as they list my mobo as a compatible? problem is this wb was won at a competition so there is no receipt.
it is also kind of crazy how the locking mechanism for the cpu is build on this mobo, just wonder if it is the same on all MB's.
basically, it is not bad if you using the standard stock cooler, as that is round and fits in the middle, but if you want something bigger like this WB is, the screws from the WB touch as painted in the pic above on the frame before touching the cpu. maybe if you screw it well it pushes the whole thing down and have a good contact?

or maybe i should not worry too much now, get the mobo repaired and if i get good temperatures maybe the CPU WB sits well enough? (wishfull thinking i guess)

first things first, i am taking the mobo for repair tonight to see if that can be done for a £10 or so, if not, i will start looking at another mobo SH from somewhere.
just afraid that if EK say that certain mobo's are supported and when i get it the fit will be like the one i have now, that is no good!
is this only on 1366 or is it different with other sockets?

my friend who repairs circuits/boards said the mobo could maybe be repaired. he is just looking into the piece that has fallen off (apparently it is a bridge of some sorts)

i will let you know how this goes.
will provide some updates later in pictures from the "disaster" :-)

it is indeed good fun! :)

i know there are quite a few modders out there: can anybody give me a recommendation for a dremel? 4000 maybe ? what other tools you use?

also: any specific die and taps set you use? should i waste money on some quality ones or the £15 quid one will do for the TJ07? (mainly i need it for holes in the bottom for the rad supports)

You don't need to tap the holes for your Rad mount.

I just laid down a strips of blue masking tape in the lower compartment. Mounted a fan at each end of my rad and then mounted it to the Rad mount.

Then taking note of where the PSU would reach I then placed my rad into the lower compartment on top of the blue tape, drew around the rad mounts. Then taking the rad off the mounts I put them where I had marked the outline and then marked the mounting holes.

Drilled these and put the bolts through. Done

I would contact EK about it.

BTW I just sold a MIPS X58 motherboard block set no problem, so people still want them.

thanks benji!
Biffa- cool, good to know but ...i come with great news :-)
my friend did some research and the small bridge i shaved off the mobo is apparently not a vital element!
so i did a step by step test and the mobo works! :-)
not i am mounting the heatsinks back in order to do a proper boot up and do a stress test on it. if no blue screens i am good to go. will keep you informed how it goes.

any windows programs you can recommend except the tests in Everest for these kind of tests you can recommend?

regarding EK - i will contact them and see what they say. i am prepared to mod it though, i am not to fussed to shave a bit off some edges to make it fit, but because it is brand new and sought after block if it is too much trouble i rather sell it and get another one that will fit!

reinstalled win7, did some stress testing for a few hours and everything is working fine.
i will do an extensive stress test this weekend just to make sure and it can also be repaired so i will have the small part be welded back just to make sure.

I hope you mean solder rather than weld ;)

Might end up with a hole in your motherboard otherwise lol

told u my first language is not english :D sorry for using the wrong word :-) meant to use solder ...

so i ran an all night stress test - no reboots and everything seems to be working fine.

will go ahead now and order the missing bits as i put a halt on those when getting these probs...

next on the list is to see how i need to mod the EK supremacy to properly fit (also, calling EK now to see if they know anything about this fit issue)

Have you sorted your problem with the res? If not, what res are you using? I broke the tube on an EK Multi option res but still have the ends which have lots of holes, if they will fit your res you are welcome to them.

wow, that's nice of you! i will pay for the postage of course!
to be fair, I don't know what res it is! i think it is an older EK but i might be wrong?

if you can have a look in the first picture maybe that will tell you something?
i just measured it and it looks like it is a standard 50mm small one (100mm high) and with a thread on the cap at 40mm.

do you think your caps would fit? i can post some more pics later if that would help?
