Project K - TJ07

I can't remember the dimensions but will measure when I get home later :)

Edit: I couldn't identify a res from any picture you could post, was hoping you would know what you had. Quick google though, the EK res I had is a 50mm tube, the rest I will have to measure.

One unfortunate thing that just occured to me though, I don't think I have any blanking plugs anymore so you might need to get some unless you have some spare.

thanks! this is very kind of you. blanking plugs are not a problem, i am making a list and will order some as i need two others for the GPU anyway.

Opened up box with broken res in and there was 5 blanking plugs so if you want the res ends I will include them :)

These are the dimensions for the ek res ends

thanks again, unfortunately it looks like mine is a 50 mm where u are 60mm so i guess this won't work :(. sorry !!
i guess i will drill/tap mine and see how it goes

EK wrote back - they say it shouldn't be a problem with the 1366 mounting and regarding the touch on the capacitors near the cpu on the X58 SLI LE they recommend me sanding a part from the block off in order to fit. they said that if i mess up and i need to replace it they will send me the part for free which is good, but i don't think it will be the case. looks like an easy enough mod.

for that though, i will have to order a dremel as i don't have one yet :D
any model/set u guys would recommend?

i'm back!

some time no see guys, but i am back and going right now into my man-cave to re-start the build.

as many have experienced before, work, life, but mainly a new baby due in dec 31'st! ...and building of the above mentioned man-cave have taken precedent so had to postpone this project!

good side: i have now a cave to go out to, i have received all the missing fittings/parts (pics later!), so ready to start work!

wish me luck ......

That man cave is awesome, I'd love something like that. So does this mean that now you have your own space you can look at getting back to your build and not have to worry about tidying everything away each time your finished for the day? :)

indeed!!

just came back from the hole! :) only managed to spend a couple of hours today as ... we needed yet another ikea run!

tomorrow morning i am starting early and providing you guys with updates/pictures

so far i realised i have ordered one wrong reduction for the radiator we were trying to identify in the pictures above ...
i don't know why my stupid brain thought it would be a 1/2 (i guess i am still not used to these, back where i am from we always use mm)

so i after doing some measurements and also looking online i think i need a 3/8 to 1/4 reduction for that rad, but until then i will use some barbs i have to create the first loop or just plan it at least

as i said, posting pics tomorrow and asking for advice on the loop. i want to get a version up and running if possible tomorrow as i might have all day to do this.

also, i only ordered two 90 degree angled fittings and they are not the same silver as the rest :( they are the slightly yellow-ish one ....so i am quite disappointed, but frankly i don't even know if i would use them yet ...so let's see.

managed to get finally the EK supremacy modded today so it can work on the same motheboard with ...wait for it, yes ... another EK product!
at the same time i had shaved off a couple of mm of one edge to it is a snug fit as some capacitors were blocking the block of sitting on the cpu as it should (as shown above in some of the pictures)

by the way, talked to EK about this and they said they were happy for me to do this, since they didn't managed to test every single combination out there in the market (obviously).
a bit surprised though, that a EVGA mobo block doesn't work on this mobo with an EK cpu WB (they only have two models for 1366 anyway!)

pictures tomorrow, i am knackered! too much on today and need to get up at 6:00 for work :)

one question i want to leave you with is about tubing: i got some cheap tubing so i can play around but haven't decided on the final brand/colour yet.
both tubes i got are crap at bending and in the pics tomorrow you will see what i mean...

any advice for 3/8 -1/2 tubing that will allow good bends?? primochill advanced lrt?

you can see above some of the modding i had to do in order to make the supremacy work properly and fit the cpu ...

questions for you guys: which radiator from the two should i use? is it worth using the older one and getting 3/8 -> 1/4 reductions for maybe a better cooling or do you reckon the smaller one would do just fine?

would you recommend putting in any 90 degree angled fittings where the distance is small (like between mem block and cpu) or just get some really good bending tubing with the ones i have already?

so look will go: res > pump > rad 240 > draining tap/sensor > rad 360 > gpu > mobo > cpu > ram > res
is this ok?

another question, maybe someone is bored and can help with all these silly questions i have :)

to attach the fans to the rads, from my measurements i think i need m4 with 0.7(i could be wrong, is it more usual to have 0.5??) and 10mm long screws - would you guys say that is correct?
i think 8 mm will do as well (4 mm fan + 2 mm rad + 2 extra = 8mm)

i have been standing and looking at my pc, wondering how the f... should i plan this loop.
not sure how the LRT tube will work and how well it bend ...some issues in the bottom as well: not sure how people get around the problem of fitting the fans where the fittings at the end of the rads are (for ex the 90 degree ones) ?? or generally will the fans be mounted on the other side?

any advice is welcomed guys, struggling here ...

how about this: Uploaded with ImageShack.us ???

As long as RES>Pump>Components & Rads it wont make much difference.
I tend to go Res>Pump>Rad>components>back to res

Always worth getting a bit of extra tube to play around with. If you decide what the longest tube is first you wont waste any as you can use that bit for shorter runs. I believe LRT is excellent at tight bends.

Not sure I know what you mean about the rad/fan issue...any pics of that

I decided to only put fans on one side of the 480mm rad in the bottom but that was because I was putting my pump down there.

If you are worried about 90 degree fittings fouling your fans, you could use something like this to make the fitting clear the height of your fans before turning? Is that what you meant?

yes! thanks guys ...that is what i meant ...
that is exactly what i am going to order and try. will come with picture updates probably this weekend, using the DSLR this time ..not the phone :D

so, i have received a lot more stuff, but still not convinced i have made the right decision to go with 10-13mm tubing. i got the advanced LRT but i am still not able to do proper bends with it (in fact is worse than the feser tube i already had :( )

should i switch to 10-16mm tubing maybe? (and thus, change the fittings as well ??). will that allow me better bends without the kinks or should i just go directly to 1/2 tubing?

what are people usually using here, or are there any tricks i am not aware of? (does heating some of these tubes maybe help ? :) )

just trying out random stuff (ways to do the loop, etc), i decided to go for an inverted TJ07 :)
so i started cutting and modifying to find that switching the two aluminium rails around, will leave a 3-4 mm gap at the top. does anybody have a link to how others have solved this problem ? i am going to google now to see what others have done ...
