Project Milo Canceled - Kinect

Was it just me or did the whole concept seem a bit..............well boring?

I think it's to appeal to the kids more. A bit like Kinectimals. As an adult, I can't see what you'd do for more than five minutes but the kids could probably spend hours tickling a virtual tiger.

For some reason I always had this in my head as a freebie that would come with the hardware! I've never felt that it could realistically satisfy a market or have huge longevity.

Milo: Oh hello there Jingo! What shall we do today?

Jingo: I dunno.

Milo: Shall we throw sticks in the river?

Jingo: Nah I'd rather play Call of Duty or something to be honest.

Milo: Oh... *sulkily picks up noose and slowly walks to the nearest tree*

How can something that was never a serious project be cancelled?

Molyneux is the biggest **** in the industry. All he does is run his mouth off on enterprises that end in nothing but complete failure or an abject breakdown of initial ambitions that were stupid and naive to begin with anyway.

The guy's a joke. He should shut the hell up and let actual skilled developers get on with it.

:/ He has made or been involved in some brilliant games.

Off the top of my head is Black & White, and that was a very very long time ago now.

Dungeon Keeper and Populous are also his works which were much more important and enjoyable games than black & white.

For me B&W signalled the decent of Peter into averageness, while it's the best of his modern titles, it didn't hold a candle to the two i've mentioned.

Bit of a shame - when they showed it at e3 I couldn't believe it - but now they've cancelled it, I'm thinking it was definitely staged - Disappointing :(

Since Lionhead:

Black & White
Fable
The Movies
Black & White 2
Fable II
Fable III

Pre Lionhead:

Populous
Populous II
Syndicate
Theme Park
Magic Carpet
Dungeon Keeper

That is a pretty damn good list of games.

Has this actually been cancelled or is it just a rumour?

I'll eat my hat if Milo is ever released, it was just a big PR stunt that Peter took too far, realized he'd never pull it off, so 'cancelled it'.

The same sort of idea will be implemented in a fable game, but badly, as technology is not up to what he dreams up and claims is possible.

Nearly all of that list is distinctly average. Especially the terrible sequels (and one that's not even out yet, which looks to me like you're being perhaps slightly defensive)

In before 'Demon's Souls!1!11' :p

I'd rate all but Magic Carpet of the pre lionhead games in that list as excellent, a few of them i'd even say were timeless.

Out of the ones in the Lionhead list i'd say Black & White is the only 'good' one (imo) and even that was dangerously close to the 'meh' category.

Admit it, even looking at those lists you can see he's totally lost his edge.

I think his games are a bit harder to 'get' But Black and White was certainly unique (I loved it personally) The Movies was excellent and I've enjoyed all the Fables so far.
