Project: Pink Chieftec

Look's like you've got a bit of filing to do! :p Some edging trim might help make it look better too.

PK!

Yea, that rubber edging is great! I made some cable management holes in my mobo tray which looked pretty rough, but with the edging over them they look fine :)

OK a little update.

Was busy playing Aion beta last weekend and im on a course in Manchester all week with work (yey VMWare) so haven't got much done.

Managed to do a bit of sanding but I think it needs doing again as I haven't made it rough enough, pics when I get home this evening.

Managed to buy the paint last night, grabbed some plasti-cote white primer, white matt (for inside) and flourescent pink. The normal pink was abit crappy so went for this one, looked better when i sprayed it on the shelf at B&Q :P

As promised pics.

Cleaned up and ready for priming, don't know if the sanding is sufficient or not. It's a little rough, guess I'll find out at the weekend:

Tested the pink on back of the door to see what it was like. It's a little brighter in IRL that it seems in the pic.

Yeah had to do it with Jigsaw, couldn't find cutting bit for Dremel :(

Won't notice it with rubber trim around it.

Well it's an interesting colour, don't think I'll be doing that with mine! Oh and when you spray the door remember to tape up the clear bits for the hdd and power lights!

PK!

It's not for me though hehe, for her indoors.

I masking taped all the bits that don't need spraying last night ready for tomorrow.

Just been and done the under coat and a couple of layers of the pink.

Really wished I'd done 2 undercoats as I can still see the blue a little through the 2 coats of pink.

Another thing, after leaving it for 30-40 mins for each top coat to dry it seems to just be like powder on top which just wipes off. Is this normal or am I doing something drastically wrong??

Finally got around to uploading the pictures of my first 'attempt' at spraying.

As you will see below my first mistake was not doing enough undercoats on the side panels, as a result it left the panels rather blotchy after a few coats of pink as you could still see the blue coming through from the bottom.

The plastic parts aren't shaping up too badly as its much less noticable on those.

I will be sanding the side panels down best I can and giving them some proper undercoats before spraying them pink again. Atleast I've learned something for next time.

The blotchyness is worse than it looks in the pics.

Hopefully I'll get the sanding done and undercoats this coming weekend if my gran doesn't kill me for spraying half her garage pink :D

Those side panels do look prett bad :( Hopefully will work out better when you respray them again.

Generally though, impressive colour, certainly gonna stand out from the crowd haha

do lots of light layers, spray mostly everything but dont use a lot, then wait 15mins. Also I did a small random object as a test so I could learn from my mistakes.
