Project: RE-Define XL (with 2 x 480 rads)

Nice work on that wiring. So much neater than having loads of wiring everywhere.

You've really got quite a lot of stuff there in those pictures. Very interesting stuff to come I think.

You didn't join all the green/red wires to the controller though did you?

Why did you go for PWM fans when you are controlling via variable DC?

Nah, I added a 3 pin connector to the end

I went for the Apache's (PWM) as I already had 6 so only had 6 more to buy.

Cheers for the comments

No I meant that the apache's green/ your red tach wire should only be taken from one fan otherwise it can mess up readings with the multiple fan's hall sensors sending mixed signals. Mind you I don't know if your fan controller even has a reading for the tach wire so it might not even matter. :)

Nice job wissel ;)
And all your pictures are in focus unlike someone elses
You can always just wire in the blue cable from the last fan to give you the speed reading if you want. ;)
But that’s not really important.
Are you putting fans on both sides of the rad (push/pull)?
Also, is that braid from pulse modding?

Cheers piggin, your guide was a lot of help ;)

I'm using a Lamptron FC9 which doesn't have a speed display so I wont have any speed readings. Just going to run them as fast as they can be whilst still silent (about 900 rpm from my other controller) but have the option to whack them up if needed.

Just going to run them in "pull" as it will look more how I want it to look that way, shouldn't make much difference with 2 x 480's.

The braid was a cheap kit and a few sizes of heatshrink from a competitor that I can't mention, I've been trying to sort out getting my sides cut by Pulse though but they still haven't come back to me sadly so might just have to go elsewhere :(

Strange how no one has contacted you.
Have you tried the other contact details?

Yep, eventually I was emailed a price but that's as far as I can get. I emailed them a few days ago saying I want to go ahead and where do you want the panels and money sent - still no answer

Tut tut tut...hard drive from a competitor... :p

Quick update - well actually just a couple of spoilers

Most of the bits are now here but I'm shattered so will do a big update over the weekend. For now here's a few pics:

Motherboard with the new blocks sort of fitted

A few of the new panels (back and fan shrouds)

The new internal panel

....which thankfully fits :)

Also Pulse Modding came back to me and are doing the side panels which is cool.

Now to pass out for a while....... byeeeeeee

Cheers Muel.

looks a fantastic idea and good work, but cant help think how do you get to the I/O plate ?

All the wires go into the top chamber then out the back (think TJ11):

This section is nowhere near finished yet by the way and will be very neat when its done (I hope)

Also most of the fittings are now here so board is now plumbed in:

There will be another acrylic tube going from the VRM block straight down into the bottom chamber and a tube going into the top chamber between the graphics cards.

hopefully the other little fittings will be here middle of the week.

I'm tempted to paint the Koolance motherboard blocks black to match the ram and swap the Raystorm CPU block for the copper one purely for looks to finish the board off. Would appreciate thoughts on this?
(...and a great believable story to tell the missus on why I need another block )

Beautiful :D

Looking awesome so far m8. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Thanks both :)

Small Update

I've spent the last few days cutting, filing and sanding all the panels ready for painting, took loads of pictures and didn't realise I hadn't put a memory card in the camera

...so sadly not much to show.

The new panels have had their first coat of primer now, here's a little taster:

Tomorrow I'll be doing a final sand of all the panels then more primer.
