I'm thinking of downloading this.

Its abit "bulky" at nearly 1.7gig so has anyone played it, if so whats it like?

It's amazing!!! I've been playing it for a year and haven't touched vanilla BF2 since. It's the most popular BF2 mod around with over 1,000 players on at one time at the moment.

Cool new weapons, new vehicles, new assets, new factions (British Army), a ton of amazing new maps (much better than the boring old vBF2 ones) and most importantly a whole new gameplay experience so it's not the round robin conquest nonsense you get in vanilla.

It's much more teamwork orientated than vBF2 and you'll get nowhere being a lone wolf so if teamwork/tactics are your thing then this is the BF mod for you. :cool:

Got it downloaded and installed and had a quick run on a jungley map with a crashed blackhawk.

Very much liked the weapons but i didnt get a chance to use any vechs.

Read up on the Kit system so I'll give it a go tonight assuming I ever escape from work today.

I'm hoping for a more team based game than BF2 well see how it goes.
 
got this installed.


weird issue though, i have had it lock up when entering certain vehicles.

As in i cant use them. I go into a BMP for example. drive for 2 meters and it locks up. i can jump out and carry on playing but its odd.


Anyone else had anything similar, this is on a local server which i created just to get the feel for the maps.
 
It's a damn big download but that should mean it changes a big amout of stuff in the game.
I think I'll give it a go :)

Am I being dumb or is there not a screenshot section on the website?

thats coz you havent got the right kit to drive.
Pilots and Crewman are now kits that you have to select. For ground vehicles, walk up to them, call up the Command Rose "T" and then right click for the kit you want. The assigned kit will appear at your feet - just pick it up and your good to go.

Bear in mind that there are only so many of each kit per army - stops everyone being a sniper, or medic.

Did you use the crewman kit? You must use the crewmna kit to operate vehicles! and the 1 thing i found with this mod is you must play it as a squad! and you must be able to communicate with each other!!!

You beat me wolfman!! hehehehe

Just bought a 7600gs as an interim card to run vista till i can afford a 8800gts 320mb but i guess its not going to run this mod that well? It actually looks like how BF2 SHOULD have been upon release...

cheers guys, will give that a go when i get in this evening lol.

Was abit annoying, loading up the 64 man maps and then finding i had to walk everywhere apart from the smaller humvee type vehicles lol.
 
No probs Datamoney! My first impressions about this mod is it plays a lot slower than standard BF2 with the focus on teamplay and communications! Little things like you cant cap a flag on your own! You must be with your squad! Also using crewman kits is also something to get used 2 you must be a crewman to use the gun on the apc ie 1 crewman drives another crewman uses the turret! Also helo's engines take about 30secs to warm up b4 flying commences! But there is some nice elements to it!
Also when your shot you can bleed to death you must find a medic thus making teamwork more important and the medic cant throw medic packs down! So it does take some getting used to! I'd recommend joining a squad thats communicating to each other ie. join the squad and ask if they got a mic otherwise its a nightmare! Believe me first time i played it was on my own and its orrible to play but later some of the guys from the tournament i play on joined and we worked together and the gameplay improved!
 
people are more than welcome to check out our server running 0.5V PR.

Packed every night so make sure you get one early.

The whole point of PR is to work as a team. Limited number of sniper kits, support kits etc as it focuses on teamwork a lot more than just lone-wolfing it and points whoring that BF2 suffers/ed from.

You're selling it even more, this teamwork style of gameplay sounds v interesting :)

It is worth a try! But if its teamwork and co-ordinated gameplay your looking for at a slightly faster mode try the tournament i play on. It is played in a similar way but still keeps the gaming side of stuff rather than the realism!

50klicks also have a PRMM server, it's been full almost constantly over the past few days so if you're looking for a good game look no further. Clicky my sig then "our game servers" in the top left for details, or if you're lazy:

Tried it earlier and thought it was ok, rather flashpoint style. I did find it VERY buggy though, lots of server issues (played on around 3 popular 64 man servers).
