Project Reality v0.7 Release (BF2 Mod)

lots of players are very conservative in there gameplay due to the realism so its often easy to flank them and rack up a lot of kills.

I can be like that, I just got off playing a fantastic round in Zatar Wetlands (never played it before on PR). I got about 8 kills be twice flanking the same squad up on a hill.

With how easy it is to die and the longer spawn time many people lay-low, as you kinda should do

Spent a bit more time playing and I'm really enjoying it. My clan's server is nice and busy again so we're getting some good firefights kicking off. :D

Deviation on the weapons is proving to catch a lot of people out - you can't really fire accurately on the move, and you need to let the weapons 'sit' in your shoulder for a second or so to get maximum accuracy. Loving the M16 now as well - though the recoil on the G3 is a bit harsh, blummin thing might as well point vertical after each shot. :D

Yea G3 recoil is extreme, single shot only basically. It does have a much larger round then the M16

roughly this is how they compare, far left vs far right

Use the M key for a map and set it to transparent in game options

Played this for an hour earlier... Flanked the enemy and took all 4 out on the roof top! Was well chuffed. Only gripe so far is the damn medics. You get injured and call for a medic and no-one comes... I aint been healed or revived once yet. And when i was a medic i couldnt heal anyone? Stupid?!

To revive someone in game is a lot of trouble compared to bf2. First they have to put themselves in the line of fire of whatever just killed you, then the revive has to actually work.
It often doesnt or you body is sliding down a mountain, etc
Then they have to heal you back up to full health which is another 30 secs, its easier just to let you die pretty much

A friend and I downloaded this from 2 seperate locations. Corrupt at both. Ace

going to nick it off usenet.

This happens with every PR release. Luckily they have taken bl**dy spec ops off the kit menu, so not as many new people running about with sepc ops kits instead of been useful. Ive been playing PR since 0.4, once a few months is up, the community is a lot better. Far better teamwork. If im not a SL then im always a medic, and if i am SL i will always make sure there 2 medics in the squad.

If you see my squad, VOIP - TRU, join us! In game name is Cpt.TruGun!

EDIT: Its essential you have a mic, you'll be kicked from my squad at least if you dont have mics.

Yea got a mic... Just been playing it a bit more.. Starting to get my head around it a bit more now! Im normally just an assault guy.. A grunt! :p Tried medic earlier and healed a few people. Played as squad leader earlier but had a team who didnt listen to my orders! Ah well lol! Much prefer this to BF2!

Keep at it! Whats your in-game name? I will have my new comp all ready to go by middle of next week. So look out for us, join us on my squad. Most likely be playing on Thors Brigade server and TG servers. I play with a lot of TB players on their servers.

Edit: Look at the PR Manual, helps a lot with ammo, supplys, RP's, kits requests etc etc

I got about 15 mins in tonight (going out in a minute) having downloaded it when I got home.

I really liked that I joined a squad at the start of the game and the leader was dishing out commands to defend certain places. Everyone listened and did what he said. We got in a long range firefight and people were calling out things like "North 345, 3 crossing the river behind smoke", then we all opened fire from quite a distance and took them down. I got one kill but I was on the LMG.

It was awesome.

Can anyone compare this to Armed Assault, which is my favourite game at the moment due to the massive coop missions?

I have played PR in an earlier release but BF2 in general gives me grief by crashing and the gamespy id or whatever it is needed.

ive downloaded this core package and will get the maps later this week. BF2 is the most played game for me, but im getting bored of it now and 2142 isnt my type of thing (its still in its wrapper from last xmas!).

I havent used a mic and VOIP before, is this inbuilt into the game or do i need an other program to enable this??

i have a mic and headset.

Im also abit wary of installing the game, only because its going to be hard to get use to it and it will annoy all the team members having a newbie in their side. Any tips? (comparing to BF2).

Cheers

Its still not as hard core as arma but they added in a lot of large maps this release

VOIP is part of the game, just turn up your recording volume to max, turn boost on and then alter anything else during the game

Read the manual, even better you should print it out and keep it next to the computer. When you die, you can read it while waiting to respawn. Its at least 30 seconds and then you have to walk back to the battle which can be miles if your squad leader & team are rubbish.
Go medic till you are sure about things then maybe engineer to repair stuff

If you want a good team play on thors, igi or tg.

They put this in recently

Wake island, except 20 times bigger

Ive been playing this now for a week, i must say its the best MOD ive ever played and has got me stuck to my PC again.

I do find that some squads are not too good and some (yanks) get alittle upset when you dont act right away.

Im still unsure what all the commander - squad leader orders do, some times the rally point wont be moved and you have to walk for 4 minutes to catch up. Things like fire bases and the like. But considering i have never used VOIP before mainly because i felt silly talking to the PC i now find it a massive improvement to the gameplay. I play engineer or medic at the moment and dont want to play leader as i want to get use to the game first, we were in a squad last night and played 3 rounds which took 5+ hours. On one level we were just defending the train station and i was on lookout ontop of a hill. Worked really good informing all your mates whats comming, this sounds boring but infact is very time consuming and enjoyable to do.

Can we get a nam tag list on here going??

didn't like this at all tbh
There's realism then there is taking it to a ridiculous level

I gave up after 4 hrs as i had no idea where i was going and following people to die got boring pretty quickly, there is little/no indication of where you are suppose to go so you spend the majority of the time wandering around aimlessly hoping you can find someone to follow or having your team mates yell at you for being in the wrong place or not doing things quickly enough doesnt really encourage you to keep playing. Having no idea whether you killed someone or not doesnt really help either as a few times i thought i killed someone then they shoot me or my team mates as they were actually just prone. Seeing as there is no noticable blood (at least from what i could tell) and the ragdolls stay in tact i found it difficult to guage whether my grenade actually hit or not

The learning curve is ruthless and the lack of guidance and unintuativeness gets frustrating very quickly
I know its a free project but if a game is this frustrating to pick up even after reading the manual it is poorly designed imo

I played the original and thought it was ok, though your experience is heavily based on how good the squad you are in is. This one however is on another level

Looked damn pretty though
