Yup, soo annoying and I really am hitting myself, especially as I nearly pulled out of the deal on this one a few days before as I saw Archs pop up, and that is my favourite UKDM on the forum. But I thought that with the £1400 saving on this I could do what I want to make this car my own. Then I drove it the long way home and found crunchy which I'm positive was not their on either passenger ride :(

It'l cost more than that though, but at least I'l know where it's at transmission wise. Waiting for a call back from Tom @ TGM today for a chat. Might try some amsoil MTF first, then possibly a new clutch from Saint Matt with a Fidanza lightweight flywheel, but I need to diagnose the root cause of the crunch first. Gearchange is very notchy and jerky, but I'm still unsure if that is a problem or just me getting used to it.

How's your peach of a car?

Block changing down is what kills the syncros on these VTEC engined cars.

Good luck with the project and sort the arch rust ASAP

Rust will be done at teh same time as the gearbox if it does need rebuilding. No block changing for me, I always rev match as much as possible and change down through each gear keeping it nice and smooth.

Might go order the MeisterR coilovers today to give me somethign to look forwards to. But I better not look at my CC statement :D:D:D

Doesn't matter how you drive, it's how the previous owners drove it :p

Not sure on Coilovers on these either, ruins the B road handling if you go to stiff (often the case)

MeisterR coilovers seem to be very good indeed, plus would go for the non-pillow bearing Zeta-S version (rubber) as I'm certainly not building some mad track weapon. Just want to get rid of the 73k dampers and far too low lowering springs.

definitely, at least once its sorted, its sorted, no more worries

erm mine, still havn't got round to much as i've been welding the damn sills on the fiesta all weekend (right near the petrol tank too ).

have a couple of 'goodies' on the way, will take some pics/post up no doubt :)

When I used Landrover MTF 94 on a B16 engine gearbox it helped in a big way, before it would crunch at about 5500 but with the new oil it went to 7000 before crunching so you may still save the box with a quick fluid change.

Get a deflector

I really want to drive one of these - although the ones with the nicer front end. :p

I'm guessing that you're planning on track time as well as the tuition too?

Im glad you have finally found a teg Ad :D

but sad that you have those issues :(

But Hopefully you will have her healthy and AWESOME soon :D

nice car and yes UK ***!!!

siumatfung, can I please fix your sig for you.

give me links to the original images and I'll tidy it up :)

Yay - someone else who actually knows what a proper car is! :p

Shame about the crunch. I have no crunch atm but I do have some input shaft bearing noise. Will take it up to TGM later in the year maybe.

They really are fantastic cars when you can have a proper go - although my car doesn't like pootling to work and back that much! :)

Nice. '98?

Sorry I never got round to replying to your e-mail by the way -Ad-, crazy few weeks. :)

How old are the RE010's? They're like gold dust!

weren't all the uk ones the same spec pretty much (bar the few options)? Or did they have the 96/98 spec differences as the jdm models?

Nice purchase, the steering wheel on the early UKDM cars is fugly though!

I've spent most of today tinkering on with little jobs on mine, including fitting Legend twin pots in preparation for Friday as i'm off to Cadwell Park. Should be a larf, lets play a game of guess what brakes first.
