* Project Teg *

Junk that POS aerial and get a lightweight one :p

Why bother spending money, possibly leading to problems with the seal aroudn the aerial/reception.

£5 for parts and you can control it with a flick of a switch, plus as I was installing my new HU and putting in an ipod lead, it was just common sense to do it at the same time. Simples :D

80's aerial = awesome :), mine doesn't go up/down when switching modes, only comes up when I turn the unit on.

You got a link to that switch installation, I wouldn't mind having control over it, would be handy when not listening to the radio

More pics and info there :)

It was easy, just cut the blue wire on the conversion loom and put in a simple switch in there. Some spade connectors, heatshrink
and a soldering iron is all you need. Or just crimp the connectors if you can't/don't want to solder.

Really need to sort my suspension next after the gearbox rebuild. It's soo damn low that on a good blast around the countyside I have to slow right down for any dips or humps as it keeps bottoming out/wheels hitting the inner arch. Silly muppet to whoever put these springs on the car!!! Coily time :)

Sorry to hear about your nan :( Glad she is ok though.

I shall be following this thread in earnest :)

I still wake up in cold sweats from VTEC withdrawal :p

Wooooooahhhh revival time :D

So finally sorted myself out and blocked out some time to tackle the suspension. Car feels alright in the corners but a little skittish and doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Glad I planned this a month or so ago as my RTA bushes looked a bit meh and low and behold the MOT flagged them up as close to being failures..... So it was time to act.

This thread will be regularly updated until she is complete. I feel I might be a single man by the end of this if it drags on :D:D

My Overhaul spreadsheet inc the brakes and other bits and bobs. Plenty to get done over the coming weeks:

Also just noticed from one of the pics that an ARB bush is split badly, more to order. O yay!!!

Had this nice package waiting for me upon my return from work. Thanks Rich @ Performance Autoworks:

Good luck getting the old ones out!

I've just fitted Konis to mine (handing is :o ) but the car is going to WIM on Thursday for the castor bushes. I assume you have a press?

I assume you have a press?

I have hammers, tools, vice, blowtorch, coping/hacksaw blades, and a lot of effort.

Presses are for women and i10 drivers :D

Might live to regret that last line!

Nice, good handling mods and overhaul are the way to go. Can't wait for it all to be done and get her back on the road and setup properly.

Cool good luck then! Those upper arms have different thicknesses on the widest part on the two halfs of the bush on the S2000, dunno if the Teg ones are like that. but worth keeping an eye out.

Make sure you jack up the wheels, with the bolts loose, when you come to finally torqueing the suspension bolts too.

see you got the ol' zeta S in the end ;) cheeky chap. let me know how they are.

was going to PX not long back for a lovely DC5 but decided I simply couldnt in the end! plus you'd have killed me :p

good luck if your seriously doing it yourself without a press ;)

Cheers. Upper arms have no new bushes, I've bought SPC forger aluminium adjustable (castor & camber) arms. £180 for the pair when new bushes and ball joint for the standard arms wouldn't have been that far off £100.

It'l be tricky torqueing up, as you have said it has to be done with teh suspension loaded as to not pre-load the bushes and suspension. Might need a tiny helper to get under and do it for me :p

Thanks Chris. DC5 !!!!!! Glad you didn't, I would have bitten your head off :p The zeta-s are lovely and look well engineered, can't wait to get them on!

Bit of wood under the hub and jack it up with the trolley jack, works pretty well as the castle nut compresses the wood and also provide some 'grip'.

My mate helping thought I was being anal until he saw the car lifting off the axle stands when the bolts were only slightly tight, massively overlooked by some people I think and it must cause some wierd damper response!

I see your logic, nice one :D

Using my trolley jack as an extra safety on the front jacking point (as well as axle stands) but can remove that for torquing up. Plus with your method it will give the correct loading and have the plus point of no wheel in the way.

Shweet!

Richie serviced mine when I had her, brilliant garage! Couldn't ask for any better :)

Neil.

Neil.

Rich does seem pretty damn awesome. Even put some notes in with teh bushes to help me install them.

Will be going up to his for the checkover of my handywork then getting him to properly set it up for a fast road setup. Cannot wait!

So onto today

Just about managed some diagonal JDM parking in the garage and as you can see the front is getting overhauled first.

Got stuck in firstly undoing all the bolts holding on the brake line clamps to the damper assembly, them took the forks off the damper assembly and off the lower control arm. Good thing was that the previous owner who put the eibach lowering springs on was nice enough to copper grease everything so it came off easily.

Managed to screw myself over and thought I had sheered the droplinks. No biggy to cut them off though. Then I realised how stupid I was and upon pulling off the rubber covering saw that they are a spherical bearing inside. Trying to undo a nut attached to a spherical bearing at the other end will obviously just turn and turn and turn........ Duh! Anyhow, these won't come off the ARB anyway as the slot for Alan key is soo rusted that I can't get any purchase on it, so will probably cut them off the ARB or drill em out.

Test fitted one of the coilovers, pretty :D

Spent the rest of the time left this evening loosening the bolts on the calipers and carriers ready for taking off all the brakes tomorrow, followed swiftly by complete removal of the suspension. That should cover tomorrows work and iff all goes well then some cleaning of the arch and putting the arms and parts in a Deox-C rust eating bath overnight should complete the day nicely.

Nice little project here! Never really looked close at TEG front end, it's pretty much identical to my MB6, or at least from the photo's it looks that way.

Thanks for that Simon, simples over brute force and destruction!

Overslep today, but what the hell it's a bank holiday. Brakes are off one side with the hoses sorted too and am about to go and break teh lower balljoint and look at getting the hub off.

Yeah they are a pain. All the adjustors are seized on my Honda. So had to get 6 new bolts from Honda and 8 bushes from powerflex as wheels in motion are going to hack it all apart on Wednesday.

Lucky an eBay seller had some in stock as powerflex have none and it would be 3 weeks to make some more.

If the flats doesn't work try breaking the link outer off and use molegrips with sandpaper on the '
ball' you are trying to grip

Polybushes made a big difference when I had them on my Rover which has similar rear suspension.

What are you doing about the big rear trailing arm bushes, using poly ones or uprated ones from an aftermarket tuner.
