Project: TITAN 4 !!!!

I've considered this kit/setup a number of times, but always end up getting worried that it's going to vibrate loudly as so many 5¼" pump/res combos seem to. How are you finding it?
Also, with this case, my issue with a dual 5¼" res is that I wouldn't have room for a fan controller, optical drive (yes I still use one) and some form of USB front panel.

Vibration is not too bad, the most noise it makes is the water hitting the res when it returns.

Just started it up to get into the bios, set the CPU to 4.0 and Memory to 2400mhz.

The red PCI-E leads come with 2 connectors at the end of each lead, does that mean I can connect them to 2 sockets. At the moment I am using one lead to one socket as in the future they might have to deal with a few extra watts.:D:)

Tomorrow I have a big job cable tying all the lose wiring.

Thanks everyone.:)

Yes. In fact most new PSUs do now.
You have a single rail PSU so just plug em in and go.

Before I plugged any power connectors into the cards, I turned the system on to see if it would run. To my surprise all the logos on the cards were fully lit so I hate to think what power they were drawing through the PCI-E slots/mobo.:D:)

are you keeping the coolant that colour? i bet your cpu is well cooled

It's not the nicest colour but I have found it done not discolour at all. I like the red mayhems do but in next to no time it turns pink.

4 Titans = Epic, is one PSU enough for them though or do you have another tucked away some where?

Just the one PSU

I have seen a couple of guys in America running 4 Titans on a 1200w corsair and then wondering why performance was down.

The other week I measured at the wall what 3 Titans and an oced hexcore were using and it was around 1100watts. So 1500watts for 4 Titans should be plenty.

Kapp could you run 3d mark Extreme and heaven and post the scores please.
I would very much appreciate it as i would like to dip my toe into the whole Titan scene :)
Great build log by the way.

Thanks

With 3dmark Extreme and the standard version, any more than two cards and you get negative scaling. This is a bug with the benchmark and it is the same for AMD and NVidia.

The Heaven score above is using the Extreme settings.

Looks alright, but most importantly have you run a Doom 95 benchmark yet?

Can you average over 60 fps at 320x240?

I have not heard of the Doom 95 bench, but it can do 30fps playing minesweeper.:)

Very nice. Need to ask the bank manager for funds r.e. 4 x Titan waterblocks though tbh :p

Asking the bank manager for funds at the moment is about right.

I am waiting to see how people get on with w/cooling the GPUs before I decide which way to go. I do have an extra 480mm rad I can use if I go for the w/cooling.

Very nice build indeed, one question why do you need 2 x 120.4 to cool just the cpu?

Thanks.:)

I have got 3 rads, at the moment I am only using 2 but will put the third in if I go for watercooling the GPUs.

For the CPU, I was only going to put one rad in the bottom but then I hit a problem. To get fans in the top of the case I had to put in the second rad, the screw holes in the top of the case are only big enough for rad screws.

I know very well what im doing, how im going to do it.

Please take his advice.

Moving back on topic....

@ Kaapstad

Maybe you should try doing multiple ares 2 aswell? You'll have the best of both worlds!!

I would like a 4 GPU AMD rig but 2 x ARES IIs don't give enough performance to make it worthwhile. I might have another look when the 8 series launches and then upgrade one of my X79 rigs.

At the moment I can make do with this.:)

what do you use these rigs for? obviously its a hobby but do you do things like folding @ home or just lots of gaming?

As you say, its a hobby. I use them for gaming and benching, my problem is I don't sell my old stuff on. On my earlier builds I would just put everything together and dump the packaging which made it harder for me to sell older parts. Recently I have made the effort to keep the packaging for some of the more important things.
