Project; Turbo GSXR Slingshot

Looking good there :)

Checked with brother this afternoon and he has got some WP parts he's due to put on ebay soon.

But it's mainly chassis stuff he's got, think he said rear shock, swinging arm, possibly a rear wheel and maybe few other bits. No motor parts I'm afraid.

Few pics from tonight

Was tricky getting the barrels on by myself!

Will cc the pistons again so I'm 100% sure of my comp ratio.

cam chain in the middle of the engine:eek:

I wanted to ask you if you've ever pressed out a steering stem into another yoke? thinking bout putting 06/07 forks on my 98 zx6

Cc'd the pistons tonight, 3.74 cc so with a .030 gasket I'll have a 1.3mm squish band and a static comp ratio of 9.17:1

Cam chains are in the middle of nearly all early suzuki's I think, seem to do the job. :)

I've pressed a stem out of the gsxr yoke, takes a bit but once its started moving it goes fairly easily.

Extremely common on the older Japanese 4 cylinder engines.

the newer zx10's are in the middle aswell, mines on the side though on the 04

and @ the op I think your very very skilled, wish I had the tools and the talent, engine casings/block looks spot on in satin black

no way I could delve that deep into an engine,im scared at even adjusting valves

Sourced a gasket but not bought it yet.

Have bought a tig welder though!

160 amp AC/DC R-tech tig welder. Had a play over the weekend and getting better at alu welding, need thicker filler rods for the 6mm and I'm having trouble getting a small weld on thin sheet. Laying a bead down is ok but a lap weld just doesn't stay neat. As I've never done it before I think I'm doing ok though.

Also got the bike ramp to the new house, got a battery powered hydraulic pump and ram on it now so raising and lowering is easy.

Sorry about the PhotoBucket vid, too lazy for YouTube tonight!

Made the turbo drain up today, ended up making a new ally pipe off the turbo to an10 fittings.

The adaptor on the clutch cover is welded inside to keep it neat outside.

Few more bits done today, turned down the rear wheel spacer so it now holds the rear caliper bracket. Thats been bead blasted and anodised since the last pic.

And what it looks like fitted. Need a couple of helicoils yet but its there.

This was also made a while ago but I've never finished it as it needs welding and I didn't have a Tig.

This little piece and a self aligning bearing

Fits here to support the other side of the turbo.
Once its welded I'll push the bearing fully home and make a stainless pin to hold it.
Should let the turbo expand and contract whilst still supporting the weight.

Finally got round to ordering the head gasket, arrived today.

Took one last look at those pistons, hopefully won't be seeing them for a good while!
