With the very kind permission of the World Of Warships team @Wargaming.net

I bring you my next build.....

HKpFVZdm.jpg http://worldofwarships.eu/ aeAoPDpl.png.jpg

World of Warships is currently in Open Beta stages and I've had the pleasure of being able to play it. As a homage of sorts I decided to contact the developers to ask permission to use material and themes from the game for my build. They were very happy to give me their blessing and promotion for the game. If you want to give it a try the client can now be downloaded by anyone.

Being a Marine Engineer I do like all things nautical, so I'll be trying to incorporate some design elements that reflect the ships in the game. I'm fond of the "Dazzle" and "Disruptive" Camouflage used during the period of WWI and WWII and will see if I can make that work.

The plan is in the very early stages, she's not quite ready for the Drydock yet! I can tell you however that I have been talking to....

I won't go into the details of that just yet, have to leave some surprises for you guys. Lets just say my Naval Architect (Tim) is at the drawing board.

I can also share the case. I'm a bit of a Phanteks fanboy so when I finally saw the Phanteks Evolv ATX I knew that was the case.
The case will be in Gunmetal as seen below.

I don't (yet) have the profile to attract sponsors, so I am funding this build myself, so please be patient with me.

I have the case on pre-order from OcUK of course. I will add to my list as I go. I'd like to go Skylake, but I'm really keen to find the right motherboard, I feel its the heart of any system. I may choose something currently available if it suits my needs better.

I know it sounds dull, but a totally battleship grey build would be awesome, inside and out.

I agree, but I plan to add some other colour. The dazzle design image you showed is cool, but too extreme for me.

No gold?

I'm so jealous of that case :(

So monochrome battleship grey theme? Little hit of blue maybe? Think this is going to rock colin, where's the press gang?

I will never do a build without something gold for you all to find ! Yes blue will defo make it in.

dazzle is crazy - camo a ship by making it highly visable!
Unproven but in theory it make it hard to judge speed / distance by eye.
All pointless when radar, spotting aircraft and most notably kamikaze attacks came into being.

History lesson aside - as a graphic art form 'dazzle' IS visually stunning.
Zig zag cable looms, you know you want too.
Adding a 'bow' to that case front maybe (not sure thats a good idea actually but...)
Always enjoy your builds - and looking forward to this one.

I don't mind the history, I find it fascinating. I'm on the lookout for interesting sleeving as I type ;). The will be no additions like a "bow" I actually feel the front of the case has a very battleship bridge look. There will be something at the For'd End and I dinna mean the Bosuns Locker !

Seems like a very ambitious project due to the theme you've chosen to incorporate. Can't picture it as being easy to succeed effectively. Look forward to being surprised. Really liked your Gold Enthoo Primo project.

I just hope I can translate what's in my head and from the theme into something that doesn't look like a 5 yr old cobbled together ;). I'm glad you like Midas, hoping to finish its upgrade soon and get it back to Folding.

I have my "Engine" or as you know it the PSU... the EVGA Supernova 1200 P2

Just to clarify something there won't be a huge amount of modification. I can't see there being guns and funnels etc etc that sort thing belongs in a scratch build not here. Saying that it won't be completely untouched because that ain't my style. I do have a plan for something on the exterior that involves a rather hefty slab of aluminium that is currently on it way to my house. ;)

I only have the case, some fittings and a slab of aluminium on their way guys so it's gonna take time. I don't have access to cnc routers and lasers I really wish I had but anything I do will be shown here and it likely gonna be rather time consuming and labour intensive.

Stick with me guys I'm open to suggestions I think it's important to share with you all so feel free to criticise, ridicule, or praise. If just one of you learns something from what I do than I feel like I achieved something :D

Craig that's great news would love to come along and check it out. I actually have my brother working on something that meets your demands for guns. I just saw your FB post next build looks funky, that coolant looks a bit like what I was thinking to use. I want a nice deep cobalt.

Heya guys wee update, maybe some of you won't know but the cases are not due into OcUK now until end of July, which is a shame but Chug assures us that OcUK will be first in the world to get them most likely, which is good news. I'll be away until early August anyway so I'll show you a teaser of what I'm trying to draw using Sketchup. I've never used it before really so I'm learning as I go.

It needs some work but I'm just wanted to show you something tangible, this anchor which is the logo for World of Warships, shall be made out of a block of aluminium which I have sat on the desk next to me. I'm going to try inlaying green/blue acrylic and backlight it for mounting on the front of the case. Now I'm going to try doing it all myself so might do a dummy run in wood as I really not sure how I will do it with my drill and trusty dremel. Of course a cnc milling machine would be great but I don't have one lying around ;)

After a few hours and some help from my bro Dode we came up with a much better proportioned logo

can not wait for this build
:)

Тhis build will be еpic! Can't wait to see more photos :)

Hey guys thanks for following, will be not much happening till August I'm afraid. But my 980ti's have shown up and I'm stress testing them atm with some Folding@home.

rrmitko, you blue build is inspiring me somewhat. Trying to find a nice cobalt blue...

In the meantime I've also managed to bend my first acrylic pipe today for my dual cpu Midas upgrade, will update that log soon with some pics and hope to finish it this week.

UPDATE: Looks like I may have found my motherboard, Asus Z170 Deluxe is going to be white/blue very similar to current X99 version. I think that might suit the build, thoughts?

Here is the Z170 Pro

I think that board is an awesome choice. Even from stock, it has a very industrial look to it like the ships with a bit of flair on the sinks

Yeah its a lovely looking board, its not a definite choice but it would really suit the colours I was planning to use.

Edit: I've a sneaking suspicion the case isn't going to arrive 31st July, Phanteks USA are listing 17th Aug and 18th Aug Caseking.de I hope I'm wrong.

following this awesome build

Yun it means a lot to me that you are following this and thanks also for all your help ;)

I'm having massive dilemma over whether to go X99 or Z170, considering I do like to using my machine for gaming, folding, BONIC and video stuff it seems like X99 is a better fit. I'd prefer to have the extra cores for Folding and BONIC.

The Asus X99 Sabertooth looks like it would be a good choice as I can make that armour work with the theme. I've also been hunting for memory, I had this crazy idea that I could use Red and Green for Port and Starboard not seen any ddr4 that would suit that, so blue is next best choice. But would love something that lights up.

I've kinda given up on the idea of using my old x79, might use that for a dirty ole folder rig.

Are you sure its DDR 4? That would be awesome if they do. I follow their development log on FB but not sure where i'd contact for EU, anyone?

I don't think I'll be using this but Asus have a World of Warships theme on their new box art.

Also I'm being delayed at work for another week, due to my shipmate being sick, so not much progress. I think in hindsight I started the log way too soon, my apologises.

Nice choice

Colour scheme - I'd say the Cleaveland can help there (upgraded hull) ;)

+1 I love my Cleveland, colour wise defo lots of grays/blue. The above board isn't what I'm going for, my front runner is X99 Sabertooth. My case still hasn't arrived either yet which seems odd but now that I'm having to do overtime at least I should have some extra funds :D

Update

Purchased the following for the build :

Asus X99 Sabertooth
Intel 5930k
Teamgroup Vulcan 16GB DDR 4 Ram (hopefully only needed for testing, as hoping to have some ram from Avexir)
Samsung 1TB EVO SSD
Samsung 512GB M.2 x4 SM951 boot drive

have you checked out the MAximus hero Viii? there like a gun metal grey on the surrounds might be worth a look at for future etc :) they do have red parts on but easy enough to customise it :)

The sabertooth has the look I want but it will not be staying that colour

Followed. Playing the game atm and loving every second of it.

That buzz when you nail your first ship. Ooh yeah!

Defo, I love playing cruisers atm and doing some Air Picket for CV's

Same here, instantly addicted

I see you can now play PTR as well to test updates :D

UPDATE: I'm back home finally (five weeks away was too long!) its 6am and I opened some lovely boxes this morning. Pics to follow once (if) the sun comes up. I've also updated OP to include the hardware changes

I want to add LED Green + Red into the top of the case to give that ship navigation lights affect, here is a very rough paint to show you what I mean. For those unnautical types I consider the front of the case to be the bow (front of a ship) Port (left side) is Red and Starboard (right side) is Green. Also a wee teaser the anchor or anchors are at the bow (hint) :D
