Projector newbie questions

Yeah the only time I've seen anything even remotely like that is with 24Hz and motion interpolation type features enabled.

Do you mean refresh rate?

Well I plug it in and click project to second screen. Then in display settings it' showing as 60 hz

Might be worth unplugging your monitor and running the projector as the primary screen - make sure settings are 1080p and 60hz

It's a laptop. The laptop screen turns off when I select " project to second screen " and it does indeed show 1080p and 60hz

I have ordered the Acer Predator Z650 and it came today, not had time to fully set it up, but doesnt look like its suffering from this problem

However that also shows 60hz, which isnt bad, but I thought it was 120hz capable? strange

3D Compatibility†
Supports all HDMI 1.4a mandatory 3D formats
(Frame pack, side-by-side, top-bottom) and
up converts frame rate from 60Hz to 120Hz or
24Hz to 144Hz (i.e 60 or 72 frames per eye).
3D glasses are needed and are sold
separately. Refer to user manual for details.
Vertical Scan Rate
24–85Hz, (120Hz for 3D)

Not sure if it can do 120Hz in 2D mode or not or what resolution it can do 85Hz at normally. It looks like you need game mode enabled for lowest latency not sure if that has any impact on motion - also seems it has 1-2 post-processing features that if enabled can mess with motion such as the upsampling which works better for movies than games.

Looks like the Acer predator doesn't have the issue so looks like optoma is going back

The predator is a gaming projector maybe that' why

It looks great too

Does anyone know if the z650 is able to turn on game mode for 3d games ? (without 3d vision)
I read it has very high input lag otherwise.

I managed to get a deal on a 95 inch draper react 3.0 screen + a sony hw40ES for £650. shop around on ebay and avforums.

i think even for £1000 the deal i got is a steal and something you should look into!
