Proper writing

I've always jused used ballpoint pens. I've tried fountain pens in the past and I just make a complete mess of the page, in saying that though I still make a complete mess with a ballpoint :p .

How about we post some samples of our handwriting and see how the older forum members compare with the younger? I bet mine is the worst by far.

I can't write with anything but fountain pen. I cannot get the pressure right for biros so the writing comes out rather scratchy. Fountain pens just seem to flow nicely and allow more "style" to come out. :)

When at primary school, we had to graduate from one of those Berol 'Handwriting Pens' and produce a reasonable standard of writing before we were allowed to use a fountain pen. But there was certainly no Biro allowed!

At that time, (late 80s) word processing really wasn't that prevalent and writing with a decent pen was the only way to make a letter or piece of work look presentable. All our good work was written up on plain paper with a line guide behind it and looked fab! Biro does not look presentable, its a cheap pen for making notes and jotting things down. I'll admit that some of these new fangled gel rollerball wotsits can look ok.

It the case with many things, computers come along to make things easier, and we lose the skills we had before. It is sad, but inevitable.

I got to aged 7 and i could write my name and everything well enough.
Unfortunately my handwriting never advanced beyond that stage though....
I can write, and my spelling is fine, but my handwriting...it's bad.

You wouldnt believe how thankful I am for this new chip and pin system for the credit cards, I dont think I've written my signature twice the same in my life

Thank goodness for PC's and email is all i can say :)

I use to use a fountain pen at primary school but I found it too hard to write with due to being left handed. I would smudge it too much, so I now just use a decent biro instead, makes my writing look neater due to no smudging.

Used to use a cartridge pen at school/college, but fountain pens are just a pain.

Don't like biros as they tend to 'gloop' after a while (you get the little spots of ink which are easy to smear, esp if you're a lefty), hence the cartridge pen.

Typed work wasn't acceptable when I was at school.
