Proposal

She sounds lovely.

OP, I recommend a public sports event.

FEEL the cringe!

Oh Jesus I just sicked a little bit in my mouth. This is one of the nastiest things I've seen in a while. Thank God I'm the guy and am the one who does the proposing, can put it off for as long as possible!

Top of a mountain in Vancouver before we went snowboarding :)

A mate of mine did that to his now wife when with me in Chamonix. It was a powder day and he ruined it with all his fuss, ****.

I've asked plenty of woman if I "Can **** them" but never "Can I marry them" :p

Hey guys,

I'm going to Florida and I was thinking about proposing, get the dolphins in discovery cove to do it!

So, how did everyone here propose?

I did this last year in exactly the same place!!

I thought I was original when I came up with this idea, after I googled it I found out they actually have set packages for the occasion  not as much of a one off idea as I had thought.

The Mrs had always wanted to swim with dolphins and after we booked the day at discovery cove I phoned up and added on the proposal package, I think it was the top package I went for, it gives the proposal, a private cabana after the proposal with a butler for the day and I believe a free copy of the DVD proposal.

It is slightly more private than you think, after the initial swimming with dolphins in a group of around 8 they will say something like "oh, it looks one 1 of your pictures didn't come out, can you and your partner stay behind for another picture" after that they asked my mrs if she wanted to play with a dolphin and its toy, it was then that it came back with a bouy with the personalised proposal written on the side.

The look on her face was worth it for me :)

Yeah looks like i'm not going to do that anymore. It's too public and too much fuss, seems like she would hate it. The search continues, great ideas here though!

The dolphin idea did sound a bit naff tbh lol

If she doesn't like a fuss then maybe a romantic meal in a really nice restaurant with no one else involved but you?

I just went for a walk up The Heart of England Way and proposed at the top of a hill. How dull am I.

I did stash a mini champagne bottle in my jacket to celebrate with (wow, much romance) but I'm now kind of glad I didn't propose using a the cliché.

Did you just tell us about proposing but not tell us the outcome or am I missing something here?

Does your other half like shopping? Does she like Japanese Food? I saw someone propose last year in Westfields Shopping centre, Right outside YoSushi.

I think proposing in public is a big no-no. I could only imagine it taking her away from the moment with all the pressure from all the onlookers.

Seeing as you're going to Florida, why not take a day trip to Grand Bahama and do it there? Maybe 'Gold Rock Beach'? (assuming your other half loves Beaches)

Holy crap OP, that is the tackiest thing I've ever heard.

Just get down on one knee, bosh a ring out and say "How about it then"

If she won't say yes without you building it up on some perfect evening you have to question whether it'll even be worth getting married.

I think only you know what your OH likes but I know my wife wouldn't have wanted me to propose in public. We are both really into food and wine so I suggested we treat ourselves to a night out at a Michelin star restaurant and I asked her at the end of the meal. The night was absolutely perfect and despite the waiting staff being extremely discreet and out of sight for most of thel night one of them must have spotted her looking at the ring and brought us over a glass of champagne each.
