Use semen encrusted tissues, those things are solid when properly dried out, I reckon that weight for weight they are probably better than kevlar.

Some of my customers have these large transparent plastic sheets they put on their desks then put documents underneath it that they regularly make reference to.

I love them, they're on pretty much every desk in the RAF.

I think I found what I was looking for - Fablon from B&Q or self adhesive vinyl (sticky back plastic)
