Prototype 2

I think a lot of you guys are missing the point I was getting at. I'm not saying purchase the game, by all rights I am in agreement with you on not purchasing the game because of the shoddy port.

The point I was trying to get across was that just because it's a shoddy port doesn't mean that you should just go pirate it because you don't think it is worth your money. In the end this will just have a more detrimental effect as publishers such as Activision will just see higher piracy figures, include more DRM measures, and invest less into a decent port in the future.

Which is where the problem lies, it's a lose-lose situation for PC gamers. Buy a shoddy port they'll keep doing shoddy ports, pirate the game they'll either abandon the platform altogether or continue making shoddy ports and add more DRM. The publisher/developer should be thinking "Why are these people pirating?". It's not because we're all tight arses who want something for free (Although some do that which means nothing as they wouldn't but it anyway) it's because we'll only pay for a polished product that is enjoyable to play.

Which is why people should act rational in these situations and sacrifice the enjoyment of one single game instead of giving in to their desires. What I'm saying is, don't buy, and don't pirate. I know this won't happen, but the only hope of this situation ever changing is people not buying, not pirating, and then go on to provide honest, direct, and objective feedback, on the game, without letting their mouths run, to publishers through whatever channel of communication they wish.

The first game was terrible - extremely repetitive with bosses that took a ridiculous amount of time to kill (not challenging, just artificially beefed up to make it appear that way).

They can shove the sequel where the sun don't shine.

But it will never change, the beauty - and also the flaw - of software is the ability to write code that can undo code that has been written to stop it being undone (if that makes sense). Even as computers and software advance, nothing will ever be 100% secure. For that reason, piracy will stay forever and many many people dont give a monkeys about how or where it came from, its all about money and accessibility, so for as long as something is available for free, it will be taken for free.

As others have said, each time shody games come out, people wont pay for them. But, even if one aspect of the game looks remotely fun or for people that are just curious, they will pirate it becasue they can.

I hate to say it, but IMO the PC Games industry is destroying itself due to shody games/ports, slowly but surely it is dying. There is still an element of piracy for consoles but it is so much more difficult than for PC and the console market is huge. So the circle of fire will go like this:

Shody PC game/port released > Bad sales > Game is pirated. Repeat.

The first game had to be played with a 360 pad as well (or whatever pad you have I guess), k/m sucked on that. Why did anyone expect any different?

This release is a direct reflection of Activision as a company. A sequel that looks almost exactly the same as the previous game with no gameplay improvements, worse performance and massively overpriced. Throw in a few horrible bugs, a few issues that make it almost unplayable and a complete lack of support and you can pretty much have the description of everything Activision releases nowadays. I hate this company with a passion, they represent everything bad about the gaming industry.

idd He has saved me a few bob. To many console port's coming out, but lots of people still buy them so it's not stopping any time soon:(

Depends how good the port is, some are fine. I have not played this so can not comment. I would rather have the game on PC then not at all, but that does not mean this game though. Saints Row the 3rd is an example of a fantastic port, although I feel some extra work may have gone into that masterpiece.

I found the first one perfectly fine with M+K.

And indeed! No problem with games if they are good/decent ports like Batman AA and AC, COD, BC 2 etc.

I'm quite enjoying this tbh. All the negative reviews are a bit OTT the game is fun....

The graphics look ok to me certainly no worse than any other port it looks better than the Xbox version. It runs well and the game has not crashed once for me.

Sometimes I feel people expect too much and some critics just try and rip apart for no real reason. It has a few low res textures but then what doesn't even Skyrim has but that is rated as superb..
