PS3 - 2.3 Firmware is up !!!! GO GO GO.....................

Well I cant get DTS-MA to work properly - or rather to be fed properly to my onkyo 805 amp

its stating DTS on the display as though its a normal dvd feed rather than a BR with HD sound (maybe I was expecting something similar to the differential between plain DVD and DTS that is pretty plain on DVD)

Doesnt sound any different to me than the same soundtracks before the update (for testing I viewed original Fantastic Four and Die Hard 4.0)

PSN Cards and In-Game XMB are Coming

With the launch of the revamped PlayStation Store as a backdrop, Peter Dille, senior VP of marketing and the PlayStation Network, stopped by the PlayStation Blog today to talk about the future of Sony's online plan.

He lauded the new store, mentioned some upcoming downloadable games, and even touched on a PS3-centric video service (they'll announce something soon), but the most concrete news in Dille's post was that an in-game cross media bar is coming this year and that PlayStation Network cards are "rolling out" to retailers as you read this.

"They will have the PlayStation Cards in denominations of $20 and $50 starting this spring," Dille wrote about the cards.

We'll let you know when we see them in stores.

I kinda like how sony aren't giving us everything we want at once, gives us something new every now and then. The new store is light and day compared to the old one, just the images are slow to load. Also, I thought they were going to stream videos?

I wonder what this mysterious counter is for.

It's a countdown for SiREN 3, a Jap horror game.

better to try and get it right first time - rather than release something that isnt ready and users go off it straight away and are hard to get back when its working properly

still not really sure why the store has to be part of the ps3 firmware (ie forced downloads when a new edition is released) why cant it just be some kind of secure website completely external to each ps3 - no real benefit i can see to "hosting" it yourself - its not that complex to speed up d/l
