To all those on the fence about buying a 3D projector, I bought one last Friday with Super Stardust HD, Motorstorm Apocalypse and Avatar Blu Ray, all in 3D. I Have to say I was never a fan of 3D on a tv and hated the 3DS but the extra screen size really adds to the immersion. Motorstorm is incredible as you can see way in to the distance and benefit from the depth of field. Stardust is incredibly beautiful and immersive with the depth of the galaxy around you and the pop out effect from the rocks/explosions. Cant wait to try a few more games soon.

Also it's no different to the 3D you see at the cinema, the cool thing is you can move anywhere in the room and you still get the effect. Highly recommended.

I get a great effect from my setup too, particularly Super Stardust, I guess with the space thing going on etc... very impressive for a cheap game. I couldn't be bothered playing Oblivion, for example, wearing glasses for 8 hours. Getting up to make a cuppa, taking glasses off, putting them on again.

Avatar looks better on my home setup then it did at the IMAX cinema I saw it in, however.

Still on the fence with 3D... once the glasses go it will take over, until then it will just wow you for a while. A nice option to have, but no way is it practical in its current form for long periods of gameplay(imagine the headache).

I agree about the glasses, I personally don't mind wearing them but feel that is what it will take to become mainstream.

what projector did you get ?

I already had an Optoma HD65 (£350 a couple of years ago) and luckily Optoma updated their firmware to facilitate for 3D. I paired it with the Optoma 3D-XL for £240 which included a pair of glasses. I've ordered another pair for £50 also.

All in all it has set me back £600 not bad for 150" of 3D goodness.

I have a setup with the Benq MW512 & a 3D-XL Box works spot on, only thing i hate is all movies look too dark, the projecto under 2d 1080p is amazing just like my lcd tv butsoon as you use 3d it goes far to dark no matter what setup i use PC with AMD card or PS3, Documentry look fine and most games just Films..

I bought the new Optoma GT750 and its available for under £600 which includes the 3DXL technology.

It primarily is a gaming projector but has very bright lumens for 3D.
Picture quality is rather good, not amazing in detail like some higher end models but fantastic for consoles. It is also Nvidia compatible in 3D

However for large screen 3D gaming and its superb short throw lense giving a 120" screen within 6 FT is designed so Move/Kinect can be played and the projector in front of the user.

Projectors are the way forward but I'd rather have 1080p than 3d (don't think there's any that do both for less than a K) also I was lead to believe that on all 3d projectors the 2d playback suffers slightly compared to dedicated 2d ones. :)

Can't wait to get my own place, going to get a 3D projector and turn a room into a fully fledged lad pad :).

I've always wondered though, is the 1080P on projectors the exact same quality as the 1080P on LED/LCD/Plasma TV's?

Your projector is 720p (1280 x 720) and has a contrast ratio of 4000:1, so I guess it's not as good as regular HD TV's but still good enough for regular viewing?

I have the Benq MW512 Trust me the 1080p picture qual is amazing ita a 720p panel but does 1080p and 3d, i stopped using my samsung 52" led tv as the projector is used every day, also the 3d is 100 times better on the projector than the tv, better than the cinema.. for 500pounds its amazing, i had the infocus 1080p x10 projector befor and was thinking this would be a down grade but its better..
