PS3 Beta Event in Birmingham

1. = 6. Sparks didn't necessarily come out of the right part of the car when crashes occur, and the lack of damage really takes the realism away from it, á mon avis! It's not that it doesn't look exceptional, because it does. But personally, it doesn't trump Forza 3 and the lack of damage really narks me off.

There was damage to the Enzo I was in, and the R8 afaik as I crumpled the driver's side wing? I remember thinking wow damage when I hit a barrier. :D

I can't remember the type of sets used, my mate who is the manager of a Sony Centre (and a right tech geek) was going on about all the TV's but I wasn't really listening.

The lighting didn't have any impact on KZ3 or GT5 in 3D.

The lack of time you got to play the games though was infuriating, I think they severely sold it short with under 2 minutes on GT5, it didn't give enough time to do anything or take things in.

The only one that did, was as it happens, KZ3, which for me was the most impressive......coincidence? I think not. The snow on the third playable level, the blood spatter son the screen, everything was great.

I actually disliked the 3D in Killzone 3, didn't do it for me at all. I liked the subtlety of the 3D in GT5 with things like the dashboard having real depth and the rear view mirror etc. Worked well I thought, however it was barely obvious if you played in the external view.

My favourite use of the 3D was probably Motorstorm Apocalypse as it suits the game style very well. Me and my mate were in hysterics when I hit a pedestrian and he clung onto the top of my car with his legs waving out the screen at us before flying off out through the screen.

I really enjoyed LBP2, Table Tennis on Move and the Zombie game which is a mix of Smash TV and Left 4 Dead. I think the 5pm - 9pm session yesterday only had 100 people there max. This was obviously good as there weren't long waits except for Killzone 3 3D as only 2 units were running it. I was first in the door and got my competition run on MSA out early too so no wait there. I can imagine with 200 people there however it would be very busy and with long waits to boot.

I didn't get to play MSA in 3D but the 2D game was a right hoot and the game me and my mate played the most.

Yes the pedestrians clinging on to the cars was highly amusing. I think I'm going to buy it when it comes out.

Slightly OT, which is the best game of the MS series to get? I have never owned any of them and fancy getting one.

There isnt a huge difference between the latest one and the first one tbh. Just go for Pacific Rift as it also has the fire effects that heat up your boost like in MSA.

Pre-alpha? how is that even possible. If a program completes one run then it's passed Alpha testing.

Only videos worth posting really, was finding it hard to get any decent ones due to the glare on the screens.

Yeah but to put an example to that. Were so called 1080p games worth buying a 1080p TV for?
Do you get what Im saying here as apart from Blu Ray's how many of us actually get full benifit of 1080p? What percentage of or viewing is in 1080p? Well certainy not from TV programmes and most 1080p games are not FULL HD so you could say thousands of people bought into the hardware but only with a PC running full HD res or via Blu Ray movies do they ever get to see the display at its best.

Although many will not rush out to get a 3DTV, many in the market now or in the near future probably wont have much problem spending approx £300 premium to get one with 3D functionality. TVs will sell with 3D technology and sales will increase as value/content is more of a factor. Of course the premium will also reduce over current prices however like 1080p sources how often will people actually care to use the 3D functionality, thats the question.

thats the thing though, very few games are true 1080p as sony said they would rather have 720p with 60fps than 1080p and only 30fps which tbh is fair enough for this gen, and some games, do look pretty stunning.

3D gaming though will take some doing to look good, like the films, sometimes it can look like a cardboard cut out, and to fake, yet some stuff looks amazing, i can see in a couple years time 3D gaming will be quite big, and the games will be a vast improvement over what we have coming this year.

Peeple say its going to be a fad, but with panasonic launching HD3D camcorders and 3D lenses for their G series range, its going to be with us for quite some time.

Just found out I'm doing the security for this, hopefully they wont mind if I have a little play :D

Were you there on Saturday evening mate? I asked the guy on the door if he was from OcUK (short, but stocky fellow with a moustache) and he just gave me a blank stare as if I was some sort of weirdo :p

Eat Them was the worse game I saw there. Fair enough it wasn’t the final build but how can anyone demo a game which runs at such bad frame rate and it’s only a cell shaded graphics.
I hope all this 3D gaming doesn’t become main steam, I am already struggling to watch certain films at the cinema because they are showing in 3D only and I am partly blind in one eye, unable to see the 3D effect.
