PS3 console failed

I wonder how dusty it is inside. :D

I dread to think! I think part of the reason it may have lasted as long as it has is that I keep it really well ventilated! A lot of people I know cram it into a cabinet with other boxes which are outputting heat, sky box, AV amps etc. Its got a good air flow to it so hopefully I dont have to many dead bugs trapped inside :)

Oh dear, hope you haven't jinxed yourself there:D

Yeah I was thinking this......Im feeling worried about turning it on when I get home from work!

Your welcome back games will be tied to your account.

Everything you've bought is tied to your PSN account, you just register your new console with your account and it will all become available to download again.

The only thing you've lost is saves, so yes FF9 is gone. In future i suggest you backup to a external HDD every month or so like i do. I know it's not ideal but it's better than losing your saves. Or get PSN+ and use the online backup feature.

Easier plan I am going to do.

buy an 8 or 16gb whetaver usb falsh drive. Keep plugged into ps3. At end off every night or once per week etc..back up to usb flash pen. Or copy save game yuo just played to pen drive after each time you play.

Its a bit OTT but it only takes like 20 secs. So, you could just copy every save game you play (for decent lenght off time) before you switch off ps3.

i think a lot of people get YLOD from flashing to new firmware, could be a coincidence, but if something is going wrong during the flashing procedure (bad firmware downloads, no hash checks, some incorrect/corrupted bytes) then it could quite easily cause it to fail either straight after or soon after when it carried out a specific operation where the corrupted software is used.

If this is a possibilty its a bit sick.

I mean fearing you will damage your PS3 everytime you update.

Or even easier, store them in the cloud

yes but you need to be PS+

I am not.. Its expensive? I dont need it...thats only benefit. I wouldnt buy it.

However save to cloud should become free I hope. I mean its hould be free to users in the 1st place

So the free stuff and discounts aren't benefits?, for the money PSN+ is good, and it's only £40 every 15 month so it isn't that expensive

For me at least, I can't see enough of a gain for me to buy in. From what I've seen during my months free trial, I won't be changing my mind any time soon either. Yes, there are free and discounted games, but it just hasn't grabbed me, so for now I'll stick with buying things full price as and when I want them.

erm well there is nothing I plan to buy or want that is free or discounted.

I usually buy and sell all my games pre owned via amzon or play.

PSN+ doesnt really offer me anyhing special..but save clouds

Thinking of getting this, then you can just leave it plugged in without it looking naff:

Only about £12, so not a huge investment, and like I say, you can just leave it plugged in without looking odd.
