PS3 Controller - Can you get use it after a 360 controller

The design of the PS pad has always been flawed ever since they bolted analogue sticks to it in the only place they could, to quickly compete with the N64. Sony has just been too stubborn to change the design ever since probably because, to be fair to them, the design has become iconic. I'm not sure how anyone can argue that the design of the DS3 thumbsticks and analogue triggers are "good" though, they just defy common-sense ergonomics, almost as though they got the moulds the wrong way around :p

These days there are much better controller designs which highlight its flaws, if the 360 didn't exist I doubt anyone would be complaining about the pads.

But some people prefer the PS3 controller, myself included, which can't be denied. And that's not just because it's good size for my hands but also because of the stuff being where they are.

To say it's flawed is just wrong. It's about taste and comfort. But my way is the right way and all that I guess..

I for one does not hope Sony "stops being stubborn" and changes the controller design.

It is, just like the 360 controller is flawed (awful D-pad).

I'm not saying everyone is the same, but to me the general consensus of people who use both controllers is that the stick position, stick "tops" and trigger design are all less than ideal. Why on earth would 3rd party companies make things like replacement triggers, or things to fix to the top of the sticks so your thumbs rest in them? I don't ever see any such mods for other pads, and more often that not the first thing people say when you get a PS3 for the first time is "make sure you buy some Real Triggers!".

I can use the DS3 if I need to, but the 360 pad is just better thought out.

One other thing I like about the PS3 controller is it doesn't cost you anything on batteries out of the box. Better design. Also the fact you can switch off the controller and turn on another, and it knows to go back to No.1. On the 360, if you turn off controller 2 cos its out of batteries, you can't just grab another controller and turn it on. You have to thumble around and get the batteries changed over for that particular unit. It's a pain.

But it's not flawed. It's personal opinion! Out of interest, what is the default controller that is not flawed then?

Maybe because the PS controller is generally smaller and therefore does not fit the general users which is men. Or maybe it's just easier to add things on to the controller? But I have never ever heard someone say you need to buy things because the controller is awful.

Also how many of the people that has both consoles started out with xbox controllers and think the PS controller is bad. And the same other way around. Which is then again personal opinion, but not a flaw.

I'm not retarded, so I can use both fine.

I don't exactly have small hands, so I can only imagine people mut be screwing their hands uber tight around the PS3 controller and complaining. It shouldnt even be in your palms, just each end resting at the base of your fingers..

The PS3 pad is designed for the generally smaller proportioned Eastern Asian market, it's just not ergonomically designed for large hands :(

What is the biggest gaming age group though? Probably kids isn't it? With smaller hands. What percentage of kids play video games, compared to adults? 90% over 30-40% (these are just guesses BTW) So with that in mind, it probably makes more sense to have the controller a little smaller doesn't it?

I'm very suprised Microsoft done a good job on the controller. Let's be honest here, Microsoft arn't the smartest when it comes to designing hardware. Given their controller design history and given the actual xbox console was hardly what one would call an engineering marvel. :p They didn't do too bad.

No problems with switching between controllers, soon lose focus on what I'm using. Although I generally prefer the 360 controller the DS3 has some better features. The face buttons and Dpad spring to mind.

I've said this before but I've experienced far worse controllers in my time than any of this generation.

I had the same prob when i got the PS3, i was so used to the 360 controller i found the PS3 controller took a while to get used to, but after a while i got used to it.

Only thing that annoys me is some games sawp the sholder/trigger buttons around and dont let you change them - ie on fps games etc seem are the worst, the on the 360 controller the trigger buttons are shoot aim, shoulder buttons are switch weapons throw grenade etc, but on the ps3 they swap them over.

Over time you will get used to using both, so dont let getting used to the controller put you off

The median age was 25 iirc.

I've never had a problem with the DS3. In fact I usually prefer it to the 360 pad as the thumbsticks on those give me blisters/calloses. But I can definitely see why people would prefer the 360 pad. Ive got asian hands so it suits me fine, but they should really bring out a bigger, improved version for everyone thats not asian :D

Where can I get an Xbox 360 pad adapter for the PS3? I actually hate the DS3 now after using an Xbox controller with my PC for so long.

Even with the trigger adapters the DS3 is still crap for racing games :/

Anywhere as long as you don't mind using a wired 360 pad. The Chinese knock off adapters are plentiful.

I don't know of anywhere that sells an adapter that allows you to use the official wireless 360. Mind you I've not really looked all that hard.

I can use it just fine, And I swap back and forth between 360 and PS3 with no problems with either. I find it strange that others struggle, but fair enough if they do.
