PS3 Crashing?

I've had my PS3 for more than a day now and i'm enjoying it even though i'm waiting on a HDMI cable. But there's one thing that's really starting to grate and worry me, it keeps crashing

It was fine yesterday, i had it on for most of the day with no problems. Last night i left it on folding, woke up after it finished and it was still fine so i pressed O to exit and then it just froze, couldn't switch it off from the front either although the dist eject button was fine, in the end i just turned it off from the rear.

Then later it did it again when i tried to exit the same program :( . So my question is has this happened to anyone else and should i start worrying? Or could it be Folding@Home that's a bit unstable on the PS3?

That's not quite true. Sure, if you misshandle any electrical item there is a good chance you will have problems, but that's not the issue with the 360.

I'm on my 3rd now and i've always looked after it right as you say. Not sure what it actually means to 'look after it right' tbh. The main things you would expect to cause problems with electrical items would be frequent prolonged periods of use, well I don't do that. It has never been moved, has it's own shelf on the tv stand and is well ventilated.

Are some of the 360 failures down to them being misstreated? Probably, but not in my case and i'm sure if you asked the people who have also had 2 or 3 so far they would say the same.

The majority of 360s wont have failed, but you could say that with a failure rate of 45% for example, except you would have so many people complaining that nobody would buy it.

I've had a 360 since launch, never crashed, at all. Had a ps3 a few days, keeps dying when I try to exit F@H, rather anoying.
I'd get the PS3 replaced, problems with the system dying in the first few days is totally unacceptable.

As my ps3 crashes when im putting a card in, shall I return ?
I would.

Regardless of the price you shouldn't have to deal with faulty equipment, the fact that it was £425 only makes it worse. Get it sorted now.

I have to say, I've been tempted, just that little bit too lazy.

I want to marry the 360 but atleast the PS3 feels as if I've just spent 500+

The earlier you return it, the less chance there is of them thinking it's down to missuse and therefore being ***** about sorting it out for you.

Mines been on constantly since early friday morning, its either been used for games or folding bit hot round the sides (where the heat sink is) but other wise no probs (so far) Just switched it off as want to start thread cables ready for when my HD TV arrives.

Unrelated just realised the time hasnt changed on the forum yet! I got confused earlier when i posted!
