PS3 Crashing...

So I have borrowed a friends PS3, as he is out the country, and it keeps crashing on me mostly during startup but does do it from time to time.

I can get it working by constantly doing a rebuild, I have also formatted it before which fixed it for a few hours.

Now, with it working on the format, I assume it is the HDD?

Has anyone had this before?

I need to fix it before he gets back, as I KNOW he will blame me!

It takes 2.5" 5400rpm hdd's, like this one on TO http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-090-HI

If you have a external hdd you can use it to do a backup first.

Maybe he "your'e friend" knew the ps3 was doing this thats why he let you borrow it, in hope you'll blame yourself and fix it for him

I would recommend an Xbox tbh.
Yeah they had the RROD problem to at the start of a couple of generations but the service overall is better

Got an xbox, really nothing to do with the OP.

But yes, my damn old xbox is still working fine.
