PS3 has the gimped version of Resident Evil 5.

I feel genuine pity for anyone upset by that difference. The character models looks exactly the same.

Oh no, the moss has gone!

Models yes, textures no.
It's not that people are upset by the difference as such, more that it seems to be a continual difference between the consoles even after years.

I think this is the biggest difference I have seen yet on a multiplatform game. Usually the small differences do not bother me but it's huge on this game.

I will await the final game comparison before stating how crap it is.
I think The Darkness still pips it.

Considering the website said that he had to look really hard to find any difference at all, and that the 360 version is clearly 2 or 3 builds further on than the PS3 version and at that, there isnt that much difference between the 2 anyway, people are making a lot of fuss again
Silly boys.

Does anyone else feel the textures on the PS3 version seem slightly jaded?

It's all down to a matter of taste really, i think the shadows seem more accurate on the PS3 version but the 360 version seems to have bump mapping on it's textures (or seems like it) and slighty more organic bloom.

The only gripe i can see with the 360 version is one of the screenies has screen tearing (which might not be on both consoles). I only hope they fix the tearing on the 360 version.

Indeed, yet that was still perfectly enjoyable on the PS3 for me. If people have the opportunity to buy it on the 360 and these screen shots are in fact a fair representation of the final product, then good for them! I won't be brooding over the fact that the graphics on the 360 are slightly better as it's a pointless endeavor, if the games half decent i'll still enjoy it plenty on my PS3.

Yeah, but the whole point in news like this is to feed the fanboys ammo for their tiresome fights.

I have a lot of games that are available and can run better on PC and I don't worry at all.

I have both consoles and buy my games depending on pad preference (If they are multiplatform)

A fun game is a fun game, graphics are not the be all and end all.

Considering its a few builds behind the 360 version it's to be expected but I will say that shadows are the ps3 versions weakest point imo from the pics posted in the webby. Complete lack of self shadowing lol =D but anyway comparison pics are all pointless unless we're comparing the finished article.

True, i think everyone gets nit-picky including myself when all we have to judge is a few screenshots. When the actual game comes out i don't think anyone is really that bothered.

Just something to mull over and discuss until it comes out, nearly always goes out of hand ;D.

What you say does indeed count for the vast majority of 360-to-PS3 games (even if a few here do not want to admit it), but The Darkness is unplayable on PS3, as well as being incredibly weak in the graphics department to boot. The FPS struggles to hit consistent 30, and often dipped to the teens in firefights. If you enjoy it, it's only because you haven't tried the 360 version yet. It's superior in literally every way - from graphics, to playability, to online multiplayer and controls. There's no way a person could stomach going back to the PS3 version after playing it on the 360. Anyone who does, has a pretty high tolerance and probably shouldn't be entering discussions about 360/PS3 relative performance anyway!

The Darkness is a textbook example of a typical 360 game being absolutely butchered and left a bloodied mess on the PS3.

The Darkness is unplayable on PS3

That's surely a bit of an exaggeration as i've completed it on the PS3, hardly unplayable. It looked terrible and ran about as bad as crysis did on my old 7800gtx (which i also completed) but that didn't stop me from enjoying the storyline and unique twists in an old tired genre.

You're right though, i haven't played it on the 360, and if i had i'm sure the issues would have bothered me more if i had to opportunity to own it on the 360. But i don't and that's exactly my point, for those (like me) that don't own a 360, poor performance on the PS3 is nothing worth brooding over as if a game is good it's very easy to overlook the performance in favor of the gameplay. It's not as if we have a choice anyway (short of forking out the best part of £100 for another console).

... I'm dubious of whether Resi 5 will be any good anyway so i'm not too worried.
