ps3 is dead - anybody else had any probs with their's

maybe cheaper lasers are used when consoles pricies drop . I still have uk launch day ps1,ps2,psp and ps3 that all function perfectly and have been used constantly ;)

Lasers died on all 3 of my launch Sony consoles :p.
I don't mind, Sony are superb anyway, they are hassle free.

Sorry but I am going to have to say the tables have turned in reliability terms. The new 360 is solid (touch wood) and the 40gb PS3's are failing here there and everywhere.

The first bunch of 40gb consoles had some issues with the Blu-Ray drives, it's since been cleared up with the newer 40gb consoles, and is nowhere near as big an issue as the RROD, which does seem to have improved with the newer 360's.

haha this is a thread thats been dragged back to the surface from late january with an update.

whilst i cant say i know much about the failure rates of the "new" 360's, i say thats there are probably more threads about the "old" 360 regarding RROD issues in any given month than threads about ps3 issues since its release date.

Anyway, the point is the tables have hardly turned and the ps3 failure rate is no where near unacceptable.

In this day and age we have never been more connected. Why do multi-national companies stick to this regional guarantee malarky? We should be free to buy our products and use them anywhere said company has a presence.

not really, op is a VAT dodger

Yet the PS3 failure rate is still 1% or under. :D

well I've got a PS3 and tbh I'm quite worried, I'm a member of the official U.S. playstation forum and everyday in the PS3 GD section is littered with PS3 failure threads like it used to be on here with 360 failure threads, I still don't think it as bad as the past 360's RROD issues but there definitely is an issue.
