PS3 Lie ?

supposely graw uses about 80% of the 360s power dunno where i read that from

CPU usage really doesn't matter *that* much at the moment, as, with any console, early games will not be taking full advantage via efficiency and full knowledge of the whole backbone of the system. Games will get prettier, run nicer, and all that stuff. We just have to play the waiting game, and be happy with what we get to begin with.

That counts for any system.

i know it dont make much of a difference it just seems a lot of power usage for an early game in the 360s release and seems quite a lot?

Just makes u wonder how much is possibly left for it?

Read my post on the previous page, and the post above yours. I take you don't do any sort of programming.

no i dont do programming but what i mean is some of the early games are only using 1 core, so is say 100% of power split 3 ways? so each core *** handle a % of the overall consoles power? As early games only used 1 core? So would this mean it uses a lot less power?

To me it looks like its using 110%, framerate is too slow :(

Heh I keep seeing you post this, the framerate is fine :p Really, I don't know why you have such a problem with this game.

I'm not quite I entirely understand what you're saying but I'll have a go at answering.

Do you mean "does using 1 core in a game mean that you are only using 33% of the power of the console?"

It largely depends on how efficiently the game has been programmed. If it was sloppily coded and was completely unoptimised then it could use 100% of the CPU time of all 3 cores but still run like a total dog.

I don't think it's easily quantifiable to say how much of the 'power' a game is using, especially in terms of predicting the performance of games later in the consoles lifespan.

There are tools (i would imagine) for the Xbox 360 to show how much CPU time, memory etc you are using whilst developing a game and that will help the programmers to squeeze more out of the box but not by noting that they have a spare 10% power left over but by replacing their code with more efficient alogrithms.

sorry bud been drinking lol dont make much sense to me either :P

Yeah i did kinda mean it like that as 1 core being 33% or something. Id imagine it must have some sort of limit to each core then it will utilise both? I dont really know how dual core works as its not something ive looked into yet alone tri core.

cheers for answering my question any ways

Yes, I'm not pretending to know how it all works. I've never done any games console programming before. I'm not sure if it will automatically shunt processess onto another core if the first is too busy, I doubt that is the case. It is more likely you would have to allocate certain parts to different cores (threading? I'm not sure). Anyway, I'm tired and talking out my rear.

Thats very funny and just another reason NEVER to belive the sony HYPE

I cant wait till the PS3 is realeased and people finally see that they could have enjoyed games and graphics the same or better for over a year with the 360 lol :p

These statements have no factual basis whatsoever, and serve only to indicate your complete and utter lack of reasoning, combined with a blatant penchant for Microsoft products.

zomg o yea btw u r rite sony suk lollllll

to be fair did anyone REALLY expect it to look like the first screeny?

As soon as I saw those images I called BS on them immediately - there was no way the PS3 (or any console) could churn out that with first attempt launch titles.

Bad boys sony for pulling that stunt in the first place, but I knew it was a load of horlicks!

Yeah i agree the only console i can think of that showed eairly demos that lived up to the first release of games was the N64 with Mario 64

Sony just seem to be the worst at this type of hype promotion

Emotion Engine :D
Toy story 2 in game graphics with the PS2
4D gaming with the PS3 :o

4D gaming is entirely possibly though.

Is simply suggests that games will take place over time rather than instantaniously :D

Nice, thanks for posting those.

Shame they're photos though, it's hard to tell if they look good or not in some of them as they're so dark :(

Most of it is looking good so far though :D

Some useful links posted there... thanks.

Likes the look of the F1 game. They only on PS and not Xbox aswell? Plans for a new F1 game to come to the Xbox 360? Would be a dream come true for me ;)

I do like the look of the MotorStorm game too. Is there a such kinda game like that on PC or Xbox that could be played on the Xbox 360?

Tbh, Im a fan of the Playstation's. Came from the PS2 to the Xbox 360. I dont know what to believe with the screenies and info going around on the net till I actually see one in the hands of the gamer or when its out. Then I would make up my mind. Till then, Im un-decided...

I'm pretty sure Sony have the license for F1 games so another PS3 exclusive...not sure when the license ends or whether Microsoft would really care about it though.

I hope they will care about it. I wonder what the market it like over the pond for F1 stuff. Like console and PC games. Depends if Microsoft will try and get the licensing...

They look like a mix of prerenders and ingame shots, e.g. F1, Resistance and Warhawk all look in game, though the others are either too hard to tell or prerenders.
