ps3 or 360 ?

I have both, but use the xbox 99% of the time

maybe i need to buy more games for the ps3 :D

I’ve had both PS3 and xbox360 and whilst it wasn’t a smooth ride for me with the PS3, due to quite a few of my 40GB fat model developing faults, the PS3 is a better all around machine then the xbox360.

Few years ago, PS3 was a lacking console. Sony dropped the ball a tad, released it without dual shock rumble pads, no achievement system to match the 360, the PSN was a bit iffy, cross platform games were considered to be a bit or in some cases a lot better on the 360, developers found and do still find it hard to harness its power, however over the years Sony has developed and addressed a lot of issues..

I’ve always said if you’ve got a decent PC, then PS3 is maybe the better all round console, the PSN (despite the recent hacking) is a stable and usable platform now. Cross platform games are on par, and in some cases now better on the PS3, Portal 2 or LA Noire for example. PS3 exclusives are for most part excellent, and developers really do harness the power of PS3 now. Killzone 3 and Uncharted 2 are great examples.

PSN also has some gem little games, PSN+ is also quite handy for £40 a year you got quite a bit of free – well usable whilst you subscribe content. The blu ray player is excellent, PS3 is quite easy to hook up to a PC as a media streamer and I find the user interface on PS3 to be a little better (well I think a lot) then the 360 dashboard.

I sold my 360 quite a while ago, the PS3 and a decent PC is all I need.

I also find the PS move – when it does get used, such as Killzone 3 or Heavy Rain to be better then Kinect, but that’s just me..

The 360 did have the edge years ago, and its still got a very good and extensive back catalogue, but most can be had on PC, so for me, money would be better spent on a PS3, provided you can use the pad.. Sony need to sort the triggers out, tip..!! Get some real triggers to clip on, they do make a huge difference IMO if you do go down the PS3 road..

Good luck in your choice.!!

I have both but use my PS3 most of the time, my 360 is a charging station for my DS3's :D I find it just depends on whatever your mates use.

consider what consoles youre mates have,
if you do a lot of gaming on your pc then i would seriously consider getting a ps3,
the ps3 will likely last you a lot longer than the 360 will and by that i mean i would imagine the 360 will be replaced as microsofts top console before we see a new home console from sony.

I've been spending more time on the PS3 lately (mainly due to free PSN game offer!)..

And in opposition to iv-tecman, I think the PS3 just hasn't moved on much at all since launch,

Still no cross-game chat, still not able to play your own music in any game, it still feels all disjoint and more like a PC then a console at times, having to download things, then install then seperately before you can play, even the demo disk for Move worked this way, you want to play a demo off the Blu-ray disk, you have to sit there for 15 minutes whilst it installs... Not to mention mandatory installs for just about every game, even if my mate brings it over for a quick blast, I have to wait 15 minutes again before we can play..

You get used to it of course, it's only when you are used to a 360 and pop onto the PS3 do all the numerous foibles hit you, and looking to the future, you can see the 360's integration and slickness is set to improve, but Sony seem almost oblivious to things like cross game chat or playing your own music in any game at any time etc..

I'd say look at the games you play, factor in any onlin esocial interaction with mates that might occur.. either way, you can't go wrong, we can only say what we like/dislike about each, and I am not planning on selling either of mine..

I will agree with the mandatory install statement.. Its fine once the games installed, however it is a real pain for a quick blast if the game isn't installed.

And with a 40GB HD - well you stand no chance, as you have to start deleting content as 40GB for a PS3 really isn't enough... Reason I slapped a 500GB HD in my PS3. Thankfully, PS3 has a very easy HD upgrade path.

I do however think PS3 has moved on quite a bit since its launch, however I also agree - lots to improve upon.

Cross game chat and being able play your own music in games are wonderful features, and PS3 could be better with them, but not show stoppers. Console has moved on though, I got one of the first 40GB PS3 models back in early 2008, and I felt like I'd gone backwards after playing on a 360 for a while... The PS3 really did lack, however today you'd not feel quite the same if you came from a 360 to a PS3.

Still, its all about the games, thats the important issue.
