PS3 or 360?

You've answered your own question citing paying for live as something you don't fancy doing.

Get a Ps3 if your only going to go online occasionally and if you're into media and blu-ray movies, but if you intend to go online more often get a 360 because in my opinion live is a more stable service with a better interface, and a lot more content than Psn but that's obviously why its subscription based - you get what you pay for.

Or you could just buy them both like many other people I know (including myself).

Hmm, Now second comment I understand it being said, Although I dont agree with it. Xbox live is a better online service, But its hardly black and white with regards to Xbox live and PSN. XBL is not FAR superior, PSN just lacks a feature or 2.

It's your first comment that baffles me though.... What exclusives in genres are we talking about that one is lacking or the other has in surplus?

FPS - both have their fair share
Action/adventure - Both have their fair share
driving - Both have their fair share

Those are the popular genres I'm aware of

For me it is black and white, it's even just little things like when a friend pops up you press the guide button to bring them up, or when you get an invite you just press the guide button instead of having to go into the menus.

I'm looking at the best selling exclusives, on the xbox the best selling is pretty much first and third person shooters. On the PS3 it's really more mixed with LBP, heavy rain and other such games. I'm pretty sure the reason for this is that Sony are more Japan centric whilst Microsoft are US.

I'm not judging individual games, just the type of games.

I kinda agree to some extent to both of you, talking about main exclusive franchise only
FPS 360 has Halo PS3 has Resistance and Killzone
Third person Action 360 has Gears, Crackdown and PS3 has Uncharted, God of War, Warhawk/Starhawk and Infamous
Platform 360 Banjo? PS3 LBP, Ratchet, Sly Cooper
Driving 360 Forza (PGR is dead) PS3 Gran Turismo, Motorstorm, Twisted Metal
JRPG 360/PS3 both have several exlcuives PS3 is getting a lot more that at the start of this gen now.

PS3 has more in more genres, but the 360 seems to have the goto exclusive FPS, Halo, and TPA Gears of War.

To the OP as others have mentioned get both as you will miss out on excellent games if you dont, XBLA also has some great exclusive games that fill in some gaps in the Disc based exclusives.

Xbox has less exclusives in general and most of them suck anyway.

The only exclusives coming out off the top of my head for 360 are Halo Anniversary Edition (a remake) and Gears of War 3 - and if you're exciting about Gears of War 3 you have no taste.

owned both a xbox and ps3. both has lasted me some time and had none of the problemes that peple have said.

my old PS3 finaly YLOD the other day due to PSU malfunction. found a leek in their but a £15 PSU is a easy fix.

had the PS3 since it came out and its had one rought life. droped from 1m or so and so on.

xbox i have has had a much easyer life and no problems with that. sold it on tho becouse i got bored of it.

tbh, the differance between weateher to take a PS3 or 360 over the other is personal prefrance. what the most of your friends have. and the features that matter to you.


for me the PS3 is king of the concoles but i aint going to deniey that the 360 is competative.

if i would still be pleased. a lot of my friends where orginaly xbox fans tho they converted or started to admire ps3 over 360 due to having diffacultys.

just read up on features and problems. ask you friends what they have out of the 2 rather then what they prefer and chances are you wont regret the buy. good luck with the choice.
 
I would choose a 360 over a PS3 if we were comparing games and online service only.

Whether you factor the PS3 having Blu Ray is another matter.
 
its not even worth arguing about it. becouse some one will evenualy say the wii is best and then its xbox and sony fans arguing againt wii.

PS3 vs xbox is just Intel/N-Vidia vs AMD. arguments. whos better. depends on the task in hand.
 
Well I did have a 360 but I ended up burning out 3 of them.
As stated in this thread I ended up getting a PS3 because all my mates ended up getting one. You better having the one your mates are on.

But I am seriously thinking of getting a 360 also, I hate it when a game comes out on 360 that I cant get but would love to play (Gears of war being an example)

So if you have to get one make sure its the same one most of your mates have, but if you can get both. :)

Hopefully i will some time this year :D
