Quality is a subjective word, he never said it was far better in build quality (which wouldnt be in question), he said it was far better quality than the 360, which of course a nonsense statement.

The 360 had a design flaw, its still a well built piece of kit, I have had 1 360 break in 3 years, my friend has had 2 PS3s break in 18 months. So I only go off what I hear and see in real life not random internet facts.

Fair enough, but I'll be the first to tell you that when you buy a PS3, you're paying for a well built piece of hardware. Also, just look at the amount of 360 RROD threads vs PS3 YLOD threads.

I sold my 360 because it broke 3 times and I had enough. Still got my launch PS3 from 2006.

i can confirm that there will be a price drop, i just bought a PS3 and you can guarantee the price of anything will drop just *after* i buy one.

Well my flatmate has a 360, the first 360 he got had RROD from when he first plugged it in, got a replacement... 7 months later a RROD, it's been repaired but how long will it last now?

Care to explain why?

When i turn on my 360 elite it sounds like a jet engine, the drive is extremly noisey as well. In fact its almost louder than my pc.

When i turn on the ps3 its silky quiet, I can't hear the drive at all when its working, and just the feel of the thing screams quality.

There is absolutely no way that the 360 is of a superiour build quaility.

I just got one last night.. might have been screwed a bit, MGS4, Killzone 2 and LBP for £349.99 from gamestation.

I have to agree with you on this. The DVD drive in my elite is like a whurring Jet engine. Whilst the PS3 is not "silky smooth" quiet, it is a little bit quiter. I suspect this is due to the disc spinning slower for 2x blu-ray read speed?

Thus far.. flower is the only reason I have this console. One of the BEST games ever made. I love it!
 
Anyone have any idea when there could be a price drop? Thinking about getting one now; wouldnt mind Killzone 2, MGS4 and instead of buying a fight stick/live/SF4 for my 360 I could just buy the game and be happy with the Dpad on the PS3

Wait till after the FY09 results come through in early April, may announce something then or even at GDC this month.
 
I guess that as more people find out about this 'rumour' the longer they will hold off on buying a PS3 and hence Sony will have to drop the price sooner. At least I hope :D
 
Arrrgggh - I really want to buy one but can almost guarantee that the minute I do there will be a price drop. So, what i suggest is that everyone looking to buy a ps3 after a price drop invests in the price drop by sending me your hard earned money. i will at that point buy one and yuo can benefit from a price drop.

Seriously - I'm thinking I should just go buy the damn thing =/

Oh and a note to the fanboi's - why are you fighting over wahts better out of 360 and ps3 in a thread that is about the ps3 price? So annoying.

The 360 is NOT a well built piece of kit, it's probably the shoddiest electrical hardware item to ever be released to the mass market...

And the warranty repair costs of 1.5BILLION to Microsoft proves this fact...

How do you say it ? Someone at Microsoft beeped up BIG TIME
