PS3 - some questions

Oh I hate connecting directly from cable modems.
Have you reset the modem to release the IP's?

You would make life a whole lot easier by going out and buying a good wireless router, something like the Linksys WRT54G.

And if you are connecting from the cable modem to the PS3.. how are you able to post on OcUK?

no i disconnect the ps3 from the modem when i want to come on here.
Then the problem is almost certainly that IP's aren't being released.
I was never able to just swap a cable and away I go, I had to wait upwards of an hour to do that.

Thats why I got a router.

well ive ordered the linksys one so hopefully it should be easier to set up.

Good man. You shouldn't have a problem, my Linksys proved a perfect purchase for over 3 years, I couldn't recommend them more. Leaves the BT Total Broadband (ADSL) router standing for range and stability.

I have a linksys WRT54G v1.1 with linux 3rd party firmware on it.

With 8 PCs, 3 XBoxes and 2 DS's running on it it's never skipped a beat. Not bad for £25.

<3 Linksys.

nice, do they keep a strong signal? And is it easy to set up? Like you just scan it and find it and thats basicly it?
The signals are fantastic and I have never had a problem at all. The dashboard on it is also very easy to use and looks a lot nicer than those presented by Netgear, BT or Belkin.
