I've yet to see a playable version of ATI's Toy Shop demo

3D graphics demos are programmed for a single GPU, have no AI, no input, collision detection, basic single-case physics (if any), etc.

Take 35% of the CPU time away from graphics and spend it on AI, and suddenly the graphics drop.

Raikiri: imo Oblivion has some of the worst graphics I've ever seen. Within a few metres of your position the graphics are great, but then they suddenly fall off. You look a few hundred metres ahead, and the textures are lower resolution than some of the textures used in games like Quake 2. It completely spoils the immersion. All imo of course. In towns the graphics are fantastic, and the sky is by far the best sky I've ever seen. But outside they spoiled it with LOD thats so aggressive it could tame a pack of ravenous tigers.

First one - Lock on
Second - Doom 3
Third - Oblivion
4th - erm oblivion again :p

Doom3 didn't look as good as that, it had some incredibly low textures that at times were beyond a joke.

Oblivion - Again, looks nothing like those demo's, I wish it did though :).
