PS3 UK Demand

Did you ever think the reason why he may be saying these things is because he wants to buy a PS3 but is worried about what it will offer that the 360 doesn't already?I know i am.

Now your understanding my position.

Yes if you cry wolf and take the **** out of some of the narrow minded on here then perhaps they dont know when your or in my case know when IM being genuinly serious.

The point im trying to put across is only they **** me for since it was announced that the PS3 does have a problem with its software line up through 2007 compared to the competitions exclusives. Their sick to the teeth of me talking about the high price and the lack of AAA.

Im not picking sides with one console being better/worse im putting it across if one console is doing a good enough job and the other currently hasnt got enough exclusives to warrant its cost to a gamer thats well quite frankly interested in the system but not dying to get one untill the real next gen big franchise games appear on it.

Sony arnt doing anthing wrong with their launch or titles this year compared to say the PS2 launch . No the problem is the majority of that list isnt exclusive to Sony which is usually always the case people will wait for AAA franchises but when just about every other franchise is multi format then that means you do rely more on your own system exclusives.

Further to this i could guess if people di pick the most expected games from that list the majority of these are indeed not Sony only exclusives. UT Sega Rally Vitua Fighter Virtua Tennis the list goes on.

Wipout could be great as for Tekken well im tiring of those since the 3rd one but like Jumpers dissing GOW or Forza 2 some of the games wont appeal to everyone anyways therfore do i have a valid point?

My final view is if your excited about the system then you probably will already have it on PRE ORDER or own an import.

If however you feel your gaming apetite is rather full seeing a lot of games on a list that you know you can play witout getting a new system does make the purchase less valid or less apealing. Thats what dissapoints me most as Sony as aa developer not a console producer possibly have fallen well behind Mcrosoft both in selection and strength of franchises not to mention so far their strategy that takes them forward.

For me its more of a pity or dissapointment and not slagging or system bashing.

Does it occur to you that his posts on ps3 are full of emotions and come across like he is in pain somtimes? Cause i know i see this.

So you know what i think now? I havent stated categorically that the ps3 is perfect but by far it is what i would buy if i have to buy a next gen console again. I am open minded if only you wanna see it.....

So let me get this, dismissing me and my view automatically makes you a grown up? Ok i get it now. Do you realise you started well but going towards what you try to prevent? Oh well. **shakes head**

I'm saying that you come across as a child with your brand loyalty towards a games console where someone you just enjoys them for what they are might seem more grown up.

My last say on this.

Aint no brand loyalty at all. Come on now, brand loaylty in a ps3 thread? I play games and enjoying playing them on my ps3 and ps2....I cant change your perception if you see it that way.

That is probably the funniest thing i have read.
God i love El's posts lol

Ah this thread is great...... :D

A fair few of the launch games are PS3 versions of what are already out on the 360. This is no bad thing though.

1) Thinking about it, the gap between PC capeabilities and console capeabilities has widened imensly since the PS2 launched. I wonder if this has caused the lacklusture response towards the PS3 and the 360. I would imagine its been the low price that is shifting the 360 more than its abilities. The core is so cheap that as a pure games console (if your not worried about extras etc or HD) it really makes great sense.

2) The PS3 is way to expensive in the UK compared to what it costs in other regions (same as the 360 but its a little less expensive). It really is  . Its not even that expensive a console but we are getting it at ££££

The problem is although it is much more than a games console, its primary function is for playing games (as not that many have HD TV ya de ya de ya). I would imagine the PS3 will pick up sales if there is a significant price drop. Could be the xbox launch scenario where the price is dropped soon after launch. This is really only relevant to the UK (poss EU) where we are paying through the nose for it.

The PS3 console is $700 in the US so £360 in real terms.

The xbox 360 Premium is £399 in the US so £206 GDP.

So yer we get ripped off on both. It also shows what the conosle is really worth atm. The PS3 is not a £425 console.

3) I would normally do the "its good for gaming if they both do well blah blah blah" but since the titles which I enjoy are either cross platform or 360 even that falls by the wayside.

Well I'm gutted, I just want a decent(modern) F1 game and wouldnt mind a blue ray player but 425 + game costs + hdmi etc crikey £500 to play an f1 game!!

in a year or so blue ray players will be a lot better and £100.

For me, a ps3 is worth 250 to 300 tops :(

Talking about demand, I popped into my local green supermarket on the way home and they have a massive display with the the PS3 for pre-order @ the usual price.

On this display it said "Pre Orders Left" with the figure 9 next to it, they had loads of empty PS3 boxes stacked up too. I don't know how many they are getting in but I think it goes to show the demand is not as high as it should be. With the thousands of people who come through the door each day I would have expected the allocated stock to have been snapped up really quickly. I suspect they will sell them though as they are only taking pre-orders up until Friday.

Not only that but I heard a piece on Newsbeat on Radio 1 at lunchtime. They were sayng that hundreds of people were cancelling pre-orders after Sony revealed there wasn't going to be the same backward compatibility with PS1/2 games that there was on the other regions consoles. Personally, I have no interest in the PS1/2 back catalogue so that wouldn't affect me, I can't believe it bothers people at all to be honest.

So, I'm still confident I will be able to pick one up on launch day without a bundle deal and without a pre-order. We will see, even though I'm not actually going to buy one yet as it's too expensive for what I want it for.

The only thing that is stopping me getting a PS3 is the lack of games on release, I've got a 360 and there are enough games on that to keep me happy. That and I can't justify £500 for another console this year.

Just thought that I'd point out that the XB360 price anomaly is due to the great current exchange rate with the US$. It actually launched at a comparatively similar price in the US and EU..........it could (and possibly should) be argued that maybe MS should have adjusted that price in line with that exchange rate, but I think MS would argue back that the UK gets a lot of good bundles, and it's not unusual to get the 360 with a couple of games for that £279. ;)

I will sell you mine for £300 ;)

The local "green store" by me is the same as the rest of the country. They started taking pre-order just yesterday and even in the ghetto where I live ( ;) ) They had sold 13 of their 30 allocation. That's in 3 hours, bearing in mind that "most" people who wanted one would probably have placed a pre-order a while ago in one of the more "Game" orientated stores.

Being on topic, I still firmly believe, backed up by my own findings locally, that demand is pretty healthy and being met by Sony.

I too, am not happy at the price us Euro's are paying or the new version of Hardware which dents backwards compat' but, from what I've seen, read, and re-read time and time again, as well as 1st hand experiences from owners of imports, I really can't wait 'til next Friday to play on my new shiny toy.

GT HD is free (albeit limited), Motorstorm looks a total riot and RFOM looks pretty darned decent. :D

God I'm gonna be skint in April/May though! LOL!

With all the padding in this thread since the games list was shown, Mr Lattes question on which of those games that actually have release dates are of interest hasn't been answered.

There's certainly nothing apart from F1 to make me consider one at this stage in a house that already owns a 360. Granted if you only waited for Ps3 then Marvel alliance maybe of interest. And then the games that are dual format aren't enough to make me spend the extra on a PS3.

So I'd like to ask Mr Lattes question again but differently. From that list of Confirmed titles what actually is there to make you spend the extra on the console.

Im asking that in a non confrontational way, I'm asking because i'm interested. I've been critical of the 360 on many occasions so theres no need for anyone start typing madly while having their penis lodged in the ps3 drive. (that bloke that had sex with cars doesnt seem so weird now compared to some on here that seem to sleep with their consoles. Call their wife a tart and they might raise an eyebrow, call their console slightly overweight and expect to get a keyboard round the head.)

You're right, demand is healthy, it would be ludicrous to say otherwise. However, it's plain for all to see that the demand would be a lot higher if it were not for the expense and lack of exlusive titles.

Danny the list i would give for games for the PS3 are

F1
Motorstorm
Resistance
VF5 (Although is coming to the 360 at some point)
Heavenly Sword
Warhawk
Tekken: DR
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Hotshots Golf 5
GT:HD
Little Big Planet
Home (technically not a game)

And in a strange Way, Singstar

Plus for people in 2 minds, you also have the cross platform stuff like RS:V, Oblivion, GTA IV, Assasins Creed, Army of Two.

Agreed. I'm in Derby too by the way ;)

dannyjo, I thought I'd answered that one. Unreal Tournament? I "think" it's a PS3 exclusive. My first choice would be Gran Turismo 5 but, as usual, there is no confirmed release date this year or next! LOL.

Oh yeah, I forgot Ninja Gaiden Sigma, the original being the only reason I bought the original Xbox, what a great (and frikkin' 'ard) game!

Thank you jumpurs, the singstar games if they back compat with the old ones may end up costing me money. If they do that my wife will want a ps3.

Still if you play McD on xbox live you get to play singstar MP ;)

F1 is the only one from that and your list that would interest me, if those interest you then I think rightly you have bought the console for your needs fair play.

I dunno if the old singstar works but with the plan for the singstar store, then it could be costly.

Yeah but i want to listen to more than Girls aloud :p

Yeap if you don't like the list buy the console, at least you haven't came back and said 'but but but' that's the list. But there is also the games that will be out a little later, such as MGS4, FFXIII, GoW3, A new Ratchet, probably a new Jak, the next Socom and Killzone 2, which i think may make a surprise release this year. Some folk may feel it is better to wait until christmas time when the other games are given closer dates.
