If that was aimed at me, I have all 3 consoles and am in no way a fanboi.
This forum is so heavily biased towards the 360 and Wii that i thought a bit of good news for the PS3 would go down well

The Wii is so far ahead of the PS3, it's unreal. It's actually not far-fetched to say the PS3 has only sold more (and not even that much more!) because everyone has already bought a Wii anyway!

Despite all the naysaying about the 40gb unit. It is clearly what people wanted (both in USA and Japan). I am just as surprised, I would not compromise on the functionality for a slight price drop, but the masses have spoken. I expect the NPD USA figures to show huge increases in PS3 sales. Just shows no matte what people think on this techie slightly biased forum abot lack of games, about BC, about frame rates. The people buying the units don't care!!!

I can understand the Wii being outseld in this country due to lack of stock, but the Japan situation is surprising, yet every week it is being outsold by the kind of margin that was the opposite less than 2 months ago. Apart from price, nothing has changed to my knowledge?

I'm not at all surprised by the increase in sales. I've been saying from day one that the price of the PS3 is it's biggest disadvantage.

isn't it ironic tha the cheapest console at £179 is now only available for £350+

if a ps3 was £199 and bluray movies were £10 each, i'd be much more interested

Yup and now we can see it hitting a good price point and selling far far better, it would make sense that the system becomes a more attractive platform to develop on. And more games will of course equal more buyers and so on, this may be the moment we look back on as the turning point in the systems fortunes.

I think I read today that the EA CEO was saying this is a good 3 horse race now the PS3 has sorted itself out.

The story is actually about him saying the transition to next gen is now over but in that he says:

Riccitiello also said the PS3's performance of late has convinced him that this console generation will be a "three-horse race," saying it didn't always look like the PS3 would be able to compete with the Xbox 360 and the Wii.

I would me much more interested if you stopped posting in PS3 threads until the time that PS3 was £199 and bluray were £10 each. Sadly I don't think any of us will get our wish in the short term

I read somewhere that Nintendo were supplying Japan with less consoles so they could push some more units into Europe and America where they're harder to get hold of - maybe this drop is evidence that they've started doing this?

Wii sales have been pretty consistent, it's more a case of the new more affordable PS3 selling well in the run up to christmas.
