PS3 Wii's all over Nintendo

Sorry I thought you meant Sony were dominating MS, which is why I laughed :D

lol no mate, that'll take a few years yet I imagine, 360 sales are kicking PS3's butt (especially in the US)

America last week for example, the 360 sold almost 300,000 compared to the PS3's almost 175,000.

The PS3 did outsell the 360 in Japan and Others last week, but not by any significant margin.

Isnt it due to the fact that Nintendo cant produce enough to meet demand ?

That's correct, and also why I'm treating this 'news' with utter contempt. The way I see it, Nintendo ran out of consoles to sell while Sony is desperately trying to empty their warehouses.

I eagerly await the eventual Sony PR.

Its still too early to tell who is going to win, give it another 18-24 months when all the consoles are <£200 and a lot of the AAA titles are out of the door for a better idea. If you look at the PS2 for example the consoles are still flying off the shelves because of its cheap price.

Because people werent buying them. If it was released on time in Spring 2006 with a much lower price point they probably wouldnt have been able to keep up the supply because of the blu-ray diode shortage they had, also they only launched in 2 territories and left Europe out for 4-5 months.

The ps3 would be selling better if it had backwards compatibility like every other console, it was all done in software anyway so it didn't cost anything to keep it, so why did they get rid of it?

I know people who aren't buying the ps3, including me because new games are being released on the ps2 and they don't want all their ps2 games to become useless. The ps3 gets one cutdown after another, until now it's only a shell of it's former design.

I think this is part of the reason why Sony are just bringing out a redsigned PS2 at a cut-down price.

Well i'm going to japan next week (and still have internet access) so i can report back on what the hell is going on over there

I don't see how the november PS2 redesign is going to solve this problem. People already have a PS2, but don't want to have to keep it under the tv with the PS3, having loads of wires and plug sockets used, not only are people annoyed about the lack of bc, but not being able to sell their PS2's mean they can't put money towards the PS3, meaning even less sales.
