lo,

Im really interested in the PS3's potential to play blu-ray disks. I know it plays them well but im wondering from a games point of view what games are out hat are any good?

I like FPS but tend to reserve them for PC as I prefer my mouse and keyboard.

Basically what games of high quality are out for ps3?

By the look of that list theres no games at all. Cod4/UT3 I have for PC.

Looks like best bet is to get a blu-ray for my PC and finally finish all the wii games I have

I'm currently really enjoying the following..

Guitar Hero 3
Assassin's Creed
Ratchet & Clank
Call of Duty 4
Eye of Judgment (I didn't even expect that to be any fun at all!)
Singstar (well, keeps the girlfriend happy anyway)

I've also got resistance but have barely played it, seems a bit poo. Overall I really enjoy the PS3. I've owned 2 360's and a Wii (just so you know i'm not a fanboy :/)

I did get my PS3 for 90 quid, which possibly adds to the enjoyment :p There just seems to be something about it which I find a more enjoyable experience than the 360 - and I used to play on live a LOT.

i would say so yes, I think GTIV might be what can sell it over 360, the additional storage capacity of BR should have some benefits for that, but some games I really like are Motorstorm and F1 neither available on 360, ive got both and both have there qualities

There are better cheaper blue ray players out there. But obviously the ps3 is a lot more than that. I'm waiting for gt5 and a final fantasy game to be announced. Even then it will be a debate as I was looking forward to the backwards compatibility of the ps3 to play through some classic titles I missed from selling my ps2 :/.

Sony pulling it and Sony pushing Lik-sang to go bust have left me considering not bothering with PS3. Even with those titles mentioned above I am considering just getting a cheap second hand ps2 when I get the time (if even).

I thought GT4 was going to be identical on both formats except for some extra content for the 360 version.

not seen that site before, interesting that a lot of the games in the 80% i would put in the 90%, more interesting is that only 11 xbox360 games after 2yrs are above 90% - 4 of which are on PS3

It averages all of the reviews for the game based on a weighting system.

Stats can be made to prove anything though, as you've just shown :)

i dunno tbh, i read somewhere that developers said the lack of storage for 360 was holding back the development, not what i know just something i read

Surprised you've not seen Metacritic before, it's one of the main aggregator sites.

Just beacuse a game is not 90+ does not mean its not worth playing, if you look at the 80+ games, there are 40 games rated very highly on the PS3. Not bad for a one year old console, compare this with the wii's 13 in about the same time frame, the 360 has many more highly rated games as it was the first out and had the advantage of having no peers at the time. Games such as Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Warhawk, motorstorm are well worth playing and will only ever be on a Sony platform. Looking at the Exclusive/multiplat games out for the year will give you another an idea if you will get your moneys worth out of the console.
If you just want a BD player then you are probably better off getting a standalone drive, but im not sure how upgradable they are, they should be ok via firmware updates but im not sure. If you want a media Hub with BD player and something that offers you different games than those you will get on the PC then for £270 its worth the money. It may see a drop in price about the GTA4 / MGS4 release date but we wont know for sure till a lot nearer the time.

I think MGS will probably slip, GTA is due April iirc.

We'll find out when in Feb when MGS4 is coming possibly at GDC, this was confirmed by Kojima Productions. By all accounts it will be out Q2 this year, the game is now playable from start to finish with things like the intro yet to be done and i guess some bug testing/ optimizing. Theres also some strong rumours that a demo will be coming in Feb even though Kojima had said earlier that there wouldnt be. GTA4 is supposed to be out about April 25th in the US, but it is still not yet confirmed.

If your interested game rankings http://www.gamerankings.com/ i find equally good but the scores come from more sources, but not everyone counts to a final score. It also has some nice break downs of scores for each game ie showing ratchet having 1 ranking at 6/10 and 7 at 10/10 etc, quite interesting.
