PS3 - worth it for £270

In reply to the OP then yes its worth every penny, built in wireless, blu-ray player thats easily updated unlike standalones at present. Plenty of FPS due out this year some of which may be on the PC also but others won't be. So i would say yes

Errr the mod cleaned up the thread in which him and others were offering to email details, so no not really hard to prove is it (since the mods know and warned and noted). And as you keep being told XBL is not part of this forum, the rules for his forum are for this forum, maybe you should brush up on them?

When are you going to get over it? the person I was nasty about got over it the same night, and moved on, yet you were the person telling me to come back in 2 weeks, people will forget....showed your colours...

If the OP wants a Blu Ray machine then the PS3 is worth it, if he wants a gaming machine to take over his PC, then no it's not worth it, why is that opinion so hard to take in? I stated my opinion, broke no rules, so I am not going to be drawn into another cat fight with people who are too ignorant to accept another opinion, the problem is not with me, but with them.

Oh lighten up, I was having a joke and used the smiley as well (Are smiley's only meant as jokes when you use them?)!!! I don't use them that often but when I do it implies a joke (perhaps a bad joke in this case!) I have no problem, just seemed like a funny joke in light of your post. Not meaning to drag stuff up, it's forgotten as far as I am concerned.

Well I know I should spell it out, but I mean alternative games in the same genre on PC, such as any racing sim beats GT5, Battlefield beats Warhawk, Crysis beats RFOM etc etc

I prefer Warhawk to Battlefield, but nothing touches TF2 on PC.

Console version failed due to controls and lack of dedicated servers, imo. ;)

I'd go as far to call TF2 the best online game out atm, comical, fun and a downright blast.

Getting a PS3 for £270 is worth it if for playing The Darkness, unless you have an Xbox360 (it looks better visually). Such an awesome game.

FPS and RTS on PC
Action/Adventure/All other types of games on Console.

It's how I roll.

This sums me up perfectly.

The reason im divering over getting a ps3 next month is the fact that I already have a media centre pc with HD-DVD working. I already have a Wii and dont play the games i have on that enough (Still gotta play 90% of zelda, Res Evil 4 & mario galaxy).

I can get a blu-ray disk drive for £90 for my pc so I can do blu-ray a lot a lot cheaper. Just wanted to know if there were any good games out that would warant the additional £190.

For me the pluses of a PS3 are blue ray drive, firmware upgradable & can play games :p
 
the best thing to do is to look at the lists people have mentioned and just check out videos of them on gametrailers or somewhere like that :)

in general though, playstation is generally brings out excellent action/adventure/rpg/racing and beat'em'ups. (as well as your generic fps, multiplatforms etc)
 
PS3 is a very good ext gen HD DVD player, also Blu Ray is more feature rich format. Has more potential for development too!

Games are a bit thin at the moment as a lot of game coders are going to need time to adapt to the way cell works. It is supposed to be silly complex. Give it 6 months and it will mature nicely, just in time for XBOX 360-2 I reckon!
