PS3s faulty

Not necessarily. It also doesn't help that you're trying to create a siege mentality in that everyone who mentioned anything against Sony is inherently Anti-Sony through and through, which isn't the case 9 times out of 10.

He made a jokey comment and I made a jokey comment back at him. I am unsure what your issue with this is? I would prefer if he mentioned whether he enjoyed the game more than expectations than you, who this post was not aimed at.

My point was merely Heavenly Sword is amazing when you pick it regardless of what people read about it. If you have actually played this game and had a different experience, I cannot help that.

Is there evidence of this "siege mentality" that I am trying to create? I find it strange no-one has mentioned this to me apart from you, that is all.

We have had a few back at work (around 10) in the last week or so all with drive issues or fan issues but that has been a mixture of 60 and 40gb models but I have no way of telling if they were from the same batch as all of our stock just gets put onto the same pile.

We are not really panicing but we have started to advise customers purchasing for christmas to test the machine before the 25th just incase they have any issues (don't want anyone to have a bad christmas)

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) can categorically deny that there is a 40% failure rate on the newly release 40GB PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3) as has been reported on a Dutch website. Having launched in October, the 40GB PS3 has encountered the same industry leading, very low failure rates, comparable to the low level failure rates of the 60GB PS3.
“We are very proud of the quality and reliability of PLAYSTATION 3 and are disappointed that such extremely sloppy journalism has resulted in this totally inaccurate story,” said David Reeves, President, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. “Since launching the 40GB PS3, we have experienced a fantastic jump in sales and the failure rates have remained at the very low level that we not only strive for, but have been achieving since the launch of PS3.”
0.4% Worldwide apparantly (xbox is over 50% Soon.)

Good to hear, Sounds to me like a rumour may have been started somewhere along the line to battle the 360 unreliability.

Off course they would deny it :D

Well, its just. Considering the amount of 360 threads we get on here, when they break. And the failure rate is supposedly higher on these 40gb PS3s now. I would have expected seeing some threads crop up. But there arent any.

Yes Sony would deny it, If it were true. But I for 1 don't believe it to be true. And believe Sony are Denying it, Because its not true. :p

I could be wrong obviously. But I like to go on what I see.

Of course Sony would deny it, what company would accept that there are faults before Christmas?

Even Microsoft denied it at first.

Mine has just this second stopped working,it's stopped reading discs and i have come on here looking for info, everything is working apart from the disc drive, its not spinning discs.I only bought it on the 11/12/07 so hoping i can take it back for exchange at shop.

Only time will tell. Somehow, I felt the Belgians report is the one with 40% faults. Someone care to start a Poll of

My 40GB PS3 is broken VS I have no problem with my 40GB PS3

I had two in the last couple of months with this exact same failure :-( Seems to be a bit of a recurring issue these blu-ray drives.

Luckily my present PS3 is going strong and hopefully won't die on Christmas day!

i do believe there is a problem with them,my boss has just had his replaced by sony due to the drive not working and it seems to be related with the recent firmware update's that is causing the drives to stop working for some reason.

it cant be true, i have a 60gb, 5 of my friends have the 40gb and non of them have ever experieced any trouble what so ever. so that is 6 people with no problems, the only issue they have is that i beat them all the time on PSN

ps the latest firmware update is sooooooooooooo good its unreal, i have a laptop n use a usb hard drive for all my media, all of it plays, ff, rw etc all with no delay. I belive this is the best piece of kit around atm by a long way

free PSN, rechargable controllers, wireless built in, blu ray playback 1.1 available from the moment it is turned on! VS batteries (purchase), a wireless network adapter(purchase), an add on hd dvd drive (purchase), xbl (purchase)

i am sure some ps3s have had errors but MS's haste to release the 360 prior to the ps3 to try and obtain as much market share as poss and overlooking obvious hardware problems resultsing in many consoles being returned is unforgivable.

im sure many people who disagree will quote me, ridicule me, be-little me and try to deny the points i made, however lets all remember these people are 360 owners and we should treat them like any other human being, regardless of there beliefs :)

It's nowhere close to 40%. However, what is amusing is that more and more have been failing and people on here joked that it's hard for a console to fail without games. Games have started to arrive and consoles have started to fail.

Either way, the fails are minimal, so it doesn't really matter.
